Not too big into anime, more into manga. I watch the occasional series i see 4chan talking about if i think ill enjoy it. Of course seen and enjoy many of the classic ones everyone else has seen on Toonami and other sources, Bebop, Champloo (love this for many reasons, the main being the Nujabes did the soundtrack, one of my favorite artists), Outlaw star, DBZ, Highschool of the Dead etc, but just something about manga i prefer so much more. I can put my own twist on how the characters sound/behave, and go at my own pace to really take in a scene. Plus i love the detail they put into things, especially cars/bikes etc.

I've got a massive list that I'm slowly working my way through. Currently 2/3rds of the way through Death Note and have been enjoying that too.

I don't thing Elfen Lied is all that fucked up. It definitely has a considerable amount of excessive violence, but I found it to suffer horribly from poor writing and story telling. However, if fucked up is what you want....

Gurren Lagann is one of my current favorites, so your friend is awesome. I seem to gravitate more to the SciFi mecha anime more than others, but I also like that innocent teenage humor as well.

Yeah, Elfen Lied was only good for the first 2, and last episodes for me. Too much filler, although there were some laughs...I'll have to check out that show.

If you guys like violence/nudity/gore you have to check out Mnemosyne and Kemonozume. They're kind of "hard" to find, but imo were fantastic.

Kemonozume has a different animation style, it isn't beutifully drawn...but it really adds to the show.

Mnesomyne was just awesome. Fucking awesome.

Blue Gender is another great series. The first few episodes are meh (kind of common problem) but the mid-end of the series is pretty sweet. I could never find a subbed version, the dubbing I was watching was pretty horrible.


Edit: shit I almost forgot about Golden Boy, looool such a great series. I'm going to have to re-watch it now, it's been way too long.

Double edit: High school of the dead was/is pretty good, but it started turning into tits and panties for like half the episode towards the end. That was pretty disapointing for me...trying to appeal to 15yo a little too hard. Other than that it's great, the girl w/ the sword is badass.

I should really be paying attention in class here...fucking long winded post.

If you like bebop, then you would probably like Samurai Champloo as well. Very similar to bebop in many ways, hell the protagonist Mugen has the same voice actor as Spike. Very laid back and the animation style is great.

I have Ninja Scroll, Akira, the 1st Transformers movie (still awesome), Guyver, and Vampire Hunter D, and 3 of the Inuyasha movies. I have to get the Naruto movies, and the last Inuyasha movie. Plus I got some silly Superman stuff for my son. He use to luv Superman.

Yea man I remember Toonami. That was a first for a lot of things for me. There is still so much stuff out there that I have never seen. I am always on the look out for something new, and I am seeing a lot of things that are new to me on here.

I can say, that a good amount of posts mention great shows. All depends on what you like though.
