    So, I'm in Suzhou China...

I should have posted this sooner, in case anyone on here ever visited Shanghai, but I'm finally getting around to it. haha

Since the end of September, I've been living and working in Suzhou, China - outside of Shanghai (about 2 hours west). It's been quite the ride. Done quite a bit of traveling during my freetime too, including trips to Hong Kong, Philippines and, just recently, Thailand.

I miss my e30 tremendously...hell, I miss driving PERIOD! I don't get to drive here, and it just about kills me. lol

If anyone is interested, I have a pretty lengthy blog at http://seantravels.com/

But, in addition to that - if anyone is in China, let me know!

And, lastly - if anyone knows of any good e30 parts in the area, I might be able to do some fancy foot work and get ahold of them...but I doubt it, because the oldest BMW I've seen here is an e39. Now...Thailand...THEY had e30s!!! (and e34s!) Maybe I'll add pictures later...too much effort right now. haha

    Anyone in China??

Go over there about 5 or 6 times a year for work. I take it you are working there. Been going all over China for about 4 years now. Very rarely do you see any older cars other than the omnipresent VW Santana taxi cabs. Will be in Shanghai in two weeks. Great place.

Hahahah Soon enough I'll be catching up with entries from each day I visited the Philippines and Thailand.

Brutus - let me know when you're here. Maybe I can coincide a trip to Shanghai around the same time!

Out of curiosity, How long are you going to be in China?

My parents have a place next to Hongqiao international airport, but I don't live there. Just visit from time to time. The night time street food is amaaazzzingg.

If you adventurous with food and like lamb, find the busier mongolian lamb-on-a-stick carts, run by guys who look part middle eastern. The carts are usually smoking everywhere cause they use manual fan style kabob bbq's.

If you go through downtown shanghai, It's a trip to dine at "sit down" restaurants like Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. You get a real good laugh. Mariachi hats and all.

I skimmed over a few pages of your blog, but couldn't figure out what you're doing over there. Just sight seeing? Humanitarian work? Business? Please share, I'm quite curious.

                    Stay safe and have fun!

Pictures will be coming soon. I'm trying to keep them organized. My plan is to post them all at http://photos.seantravels.com/ and when you page through them (over 350 just for my first 3 days in the Philippines thus far) it will tel the entire story of my trip. I take pictures of everything. haha

Yes, I'm loving it. It's been eye-opening. It's amazing how many new/unique experiences you have when living in a different part of the world.

Such a great suggestion! hahaha!! I was talking about Foxconn with some other expats the other night - they pretty much own an entire small city somewhere here in China. Something like 60k employees literally live at work or something like that!

Thanks for the advice, Derek! I'll need to find those the next time I'm in Shanghai. Any suggestions on what part of town to look in?

That's a great place to have some real-estate too! That would be awesome.

And yes, the western restaurants are interesting to see. It's amazing how many people eat KFC here too. Oh, and Papa Johns is actually very popular. So it Starbucks!

Hahaha well, I'm essentially an Engineer working for Caterpillar. I'm doing a 7 month stint here in China for my last rotation in the engineer development program. I was lucky to have the opportunity, so I jumped on it!

They are almost all over town around the outside of downtown, right outside the subway stations usually.

I forgot about KFC, the chinese chicken is like pigeon compared to our hormone injected farm chicken lol, but the flavor is wayyyy better. I gained 15 lbs living there for a month, pigging out on street food and 2 quai chinese 40s ;)
