    Non-Bimmer project! (Caution: Swedish Content)

So I'm pretty sure some of you guys have seen my past threads expressing my secret love for Volvos.

Well, you may have also seen those rants I've had about the newer FoMoCo Volvos, such as my parents 2002 Volvo V70 Cross Country that our family bought in Sweden 10 years ago (whoa).

So it's third piece-of-shit Aisin Geartronic transmission just took a crap, and my dad doesn't feel like paying another $6k to have it replaced with another problematic slushbox.

We've decided that we are going to manual-swap it.
Now this is something extremely rare, as they never sold these cars with Manual trannys in North America. There has only been one other documented swap, and that was done by some dude who parts Volvos weekly, and is rolling in them, and is also a shop-tech. That guy also got a FWD transmission, and consequently ran the car with a Drive-shaft delete.

So at the moment, we are looking for a AWD 5-speed, or 6-speed out of a totaled Volvo S60R that my dad found up in Sacramento.

    Background on the car:
    2002 Volvo V70XC 2.4T Low-pressure Turbo All wheel drive.
~150k Miles, driven to the ground by myself, my mom, dad, and sister.
    -Busted Shocks & struts :D
-iPd/MTE Sweden ECU Tune (really actually woke it up a bit)
-Bunch of "euro spec goodies" we had installed on the car a decade ago, while we were living in Sweden an my dad was working on a company project.
-Decked out in Thule shit and has a nice little trailer hitch

So thought I'd share this little project with y'all, and since I hardly ever go on Volvo forums anymore, I'll just update this thread because r3v ftw.

Below are some pictures of the swap-candidate car, and my family's other (and my) Classic Volvo 240, which is actually RWD, 5-speed from the factory, and plenty-o-fun.

Poorly-built POS out of the car:

1991 BMW 318i (Old Shell RIP, Now Being Re-shelled & Reborn)
    1983 Peugeot 505 STI
    1992 Volvo 240 Wagon
    2009 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Sport 4WD

You will never finish this swap. Just about EVERY SINGLE WIRE needs to be transferred over from the Donor car. Otherwise you'll have a soft limiter at 4,000 RPM. I already looked into this when mine hit 200k miles on the stock tranny.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

That 240's a hell of a clean car. Good luck on this Sina...especially if what Trackjunkie says is true.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I had a 240 as my first travel car when I started repping. 85 240dl wagon in Maroon. The thing went 350k w/o any problems. I then got a company car and sold it to a friend. That friend blew it up, and abandoned it a year later. Makes me sad. I will own another 240dl wagon.
              Yours truly,

                What's wrong with Aisin tranny's?
They've been providing Volvo with their auto trannies since the VERY early 80's in the 240 and 260 series with no problems. They've been known to be some of the best built trannies ever (Japanese company).
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

                    LAWLZ yes.
Did you ever see Chilled man?

He gave up on the Venetian red one, now is at it again with another p2 xc70!

BTW everyone, I thought this thread was about my 240 and just posted a picture of it from today

and to erryone else - for now we've thrown in the towel...it's practically impossible unless we shell out at fark ton for a special 6-spd tranny out of a V70R Awd, and it still would have a VERY low redline due to ETM problems between the 2.4t awd and the 2.5t, etc.. 6-speed.

There is currently a project in the works by MTE in schweden to be able to program a unit to tame the swap... not to mention Chilled man on the volvospeed and volvoxc.com forums...
