So I'm pretty sure some of you guys have seen my past threads expressing my secret love for Volvos.
Well, you may have also seen those rants I've had about the newer FoMoCo Volvos, such as my parents 2002 Volvo V70 Cross Country that our family bought in Sweden 10 years ago (whoa).
So it's third piece-of-shit Aisin Geartronic transmission just took a crap, and my dad doesn't feel like paying another $6k to have it replaced with another problematic slushbox.
We've decided that we are going to manual-swap it.
Now this is something extremely rare, as they never sold these cars with Manual trannys in North America. There has only been one other documented swap, and that was done by some dude who parts Volvos weekly, and is rolling in them, and is also a shop-tech. That guy also got a FWD transmission, and consequently ran the car with a Drive-shaft delete.
So at the moment, we are looking for a AWD 5-speed, or 6-speed out of a totaled Volvo S60R that my dad found up in Sacramento.
Background on the car:
2002 Volvo V70XC 2.4T Low-pressure Turbo All wheel drive.
~150k Miles, driven to the ground by myself, my mom, dad, and sister.
-Busted Shocks & struts :D
-iPd/MTE Sweden ECU Tune (really actually woke it up a bit)
-Bunch of "euro spec goodies" we had installed on the car a decade ago, while we were living in Sweden an my dad was working on a company project.
-Decked out in Thule shit and has a nice little trailer hitch
So thought I'd share this little project with y'all, and since I hardly ever go on Volvo forums anymore, I'll just update this thread because r3v ftw.
Below are some pictures of the swap-candidate car, and my family's other (and my) Classic Volvo 240, which is actually RWD, 5-speed from the factory, and plenty-o-fun.

Poorly-built POS out of the car:
