You should motivate your friend to keep his head up and push through and give 150% to recovery.

My Great Uncle suffered two strokes once in his late 60s and the 2nd in his mid 70s and he is up and about with full functionality after doc's said he was gonna lose all functionality on left the first and right the second.

I would/will, but right now he is in the realization phase. I tried to talk to him about it and how I can relate to being in a long term recovery situation after a devestating injury, but he was not interested in hearing it right now. I'll give him some more time before I give it another try.
