Hey guys (and the two gals that are on here), I am asking the deep, and not so deep pockets of OT to help me raise some money for the upcoming MS walk here in south Florida. Although i have seen many people ask for things on here, it is a very humbling feeling when doing it yourself, strange i guess.
In any event, I am asking you fine people for a bit of assistance. I'll give you a brief back story as to why i am making this thread.
Back in 1999, my mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (If you don't know what it is, please read Read Here) and immediately began treatment. Since her diagnosis, she has had her ups and downs with her battle. She has gone through multiple blood transfusions, spinal taps, unending testing and analysis, and for the last 10 years has done a self injection weekly of a medicine known as Avonex.
In addition to my mother having MS, my Aunt (her sister) was also diagnosed with it. Although having the same diagnosis, my aunt found out she had the disease much earlier in life, about 1984 is when she got sick. The treatment options for MS back then were few and far between. Almost immediately she lost the use of the left side of her body, forcing her into a nursing home where she could receive around the clock care. In addition to the paralysis, the plaques on her brain cause moderate brain damage which greatly affected her motor skills and memory.
As early as i can remember, my aunt had been in a nursing home either bed ridden, or sometimes in a wheel chair. Unfortunately, she passed away some 5 years ago due to complications with her fight with MS. Although it is terribly sad, it is hard not to think she is in a better place now, freed from her bed/wheelchair and this terrible disease.
With all of that said, Myself and my girlfriend will be participating in the local MS walk this year down here in south Florida. Our goal is modest, looking to raise around $1,500.
If any of you could find the generosity to donate even the smallest amount, I will be forever indebted to you. A dollar, two bucks, five bucks, anything helps. If you prefer to stay anonymous, that is fine, but i will update this thread with the top donators as they come in. In addition, I will be offering a special gift to any donor who donates more than $30.00 (make sure i have your address after you donate)
Please go to this link here to donate anything you can.
