    Need PC tech help

Some of you out there may be able to answer this question for me. I've been looking online and haven't been able to come up with a definite yes or no.

I'm running a dell Inspiron 8xx on Windows Vista using an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro and am trying to configure multiple monitors.

Both of my LCD monitors have both D-sub and DVI outputs whereas my video/graphics card has one 15pin D-sub and one 29pin DVI. Currently Im running both monitors on a splitter using their existing 15pin D-sub cords to one d-sub splitter and then into the monitor but this does not allow for independent use of programs and movement between monitors and instead acts to simply replicate the image of the first monitor.

    Question:
If I plug the second monitor in to the DVI output on the card and the first into the D-sub will I then be able to configure it properly? I ask only because I dont want to buy a DVI if there is another way I can fix it via software etc.

To get the multi monitor ability each monitor needs its own port. Once you do this you can go into settings and detect the 2nd screen. You will then have the option of making it a "mirror" of the first screen or making it act independant as another screen. I personally love having the 2nd screen my self. You can buy an adapter if you dony want to buy a whole new cable.

Yes, you can plug the 1st monitor into the DVI output of your card and the 2nd into the d-sub output and run them independently from one another.
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!
