I assume the op still reads this and I would like to say that. We don't care so much about you. It is more the fact that anyone could have walked out onto the road. Your argument that it is a clear road and you could see if someone was going to walk on to the road is void because you nearly didn't spot the police officer.

No to mention if a dog cat or anything ran onto the road you would most likly be dead.
