MattB = P.O.S. (Also Paypal Question)

    Spark Notes*
    1. Cut a lanyard deal with Matt
    2. 10 lanyards for $36 of his dollars and a free shift and e brake boot shipped
    3. He was banned, I politely told him I wanted to withdraw from the contract
    4. I couldn't refund the money right away because I transferred it all when I shipped the orders
    5. I get a paypal dispute from him
    6. Will the dispute negatively affect my account?

I know the guy was banned and this is a bit of a vent/rant with a question. He pm'd me during the lanyard sale and asked if I would offer a discount on 10 lanyards. I messaged back and said I could do 10 for $36 and a free shifter and e-brake boot shipped to me. We would both wait until the lanyards were in and then ship items at the same time. He sent me the $36 and that was that.

A week or two passed before the lanyards were in and when I received them I did up his package and checked in on his group buy thread; turns out he was banned. After reading back through a few pages it seemed as though the quality of them had gone downhill and he was ignoring customers. Because of this I sent him a message and said I had to back out of the agreement because of the commotion he was involved with on the forums, plus he was banned (he made a new account to contact me, looks as if it's also banned). I said I would refund the money and even send out a black and white lanyard, free of charge, because I was backing out.

I transferred all of the money out of my paypal the day I shipped everything out. All of this happened a few days after and I let him know that I did not have the $36 in the account because of that. I also said that was another reason I was giving him two lanyards. He responded and said
hey thanks man, and let me clear the comottion up. cause i shit on someones car FS thread. they locked my boot threads lol...

    but ebay is my friend.

    thanks man"

It seemed like a harmless reply and things would go okay. I return from the gym tonight and check my email to see that I have been hit with a paypal dispute charge for the $36. That kind of pissed me off. I don't think I was in the wrong. I didn't have the funds to send back but I fully explained the situation to him, gave him a gift as an apology and replied to all pm's within a day.

What a piece of shit that kid is. Matt, if you're reading, it's time to take step back and have a reflection period of what an asshat you are.

Onto my question, Will the paypal dispute have any negative effect on my account for future transactions? I'm transferring money to my account now but because I'm in Canada, eh, it takes 5-8 business days which is horse shit. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to leave a bit of "feedback" for him.

    /end rant

If he wins the dispute, and they have to forcefully charge your account, yes.

If you voluntarily refund him $36, and explain to paypal that you have done so, no.

I didn't even know he was banned. I bought a shift boot off him a few years ago, seemed like a nice guy.

What did he get banned for?

          Hmm...
I'm Not Right in the Head | Random Rants and other Nonsense1st Order Logic Failure: Association fallacy, this type of fallacy can be expressed as (∃xS : φ(x)) → (∀xS : φ(x)), meaning "if there exists any x in the set S so that a property φ is true for x, then for all x in S the property φ must be true".

I am pretty sure he is still on e30 tech (if you have a membership) & also the m42 forum. That might be a way you could also contact him if your only method was here on r3v. Not much more I can give you for help though.

Paypal will give you 10 days after the dispute is opened up to refund the person's money. You have 3 days to reply to the dispute, if you don't reply they'll send you another email, they'll keep sending you them till the 10 days is up (if you don't reply). If you don't reply to the dispute at all, matt b will automatically get his money back. Even if you don't have any money in your PP account, your account will go into the negatives and you will have to pay paypal back. If you act quickly and tell paypal your situation nothing negative will happen to your account. You will have enough time to transfer money into your PP account and refund him.

If you need more help, call paypal and ask to speak to a representative when the robot starts talking. They are VERY helpful on the phone.
