What should I buy if I sell my Jeep?

So during the summer I'll be having a 25 mile commute one way and I could perhaps use something with a bit better fuel consumption compared to my 95 Cherokee sport with a 5-speed, 3" lift and 31" tires. I get around 18-20 MPG right now and I'd like to look for something around 25-30 MPG freeway at the lowest.

I figure I could sell the Jeep for around 4k to maybe 5k on the optimistic end. So, anything less than that. Go!

          E30, duh.

Seriously though, what do you need the vehicle to be able to do? Something bigger and 4wd like the Jeep or no?

Chevy Prizm. Boring and ugly but dependable and economical. I took one to 260,000 miles with no more than oil and brake changes.

Don't care too much, just as long as it has a bit of a mod-ability and a bit of "cool" factor, as corny as that sounds.

I'm sort of leaning into the econobox school of thought but I don't want something that I'll regret buying in a month and a half.
