Edit: Thought M1's where designed by Lamborghini? I'm the biggest BMW fanboy in the world, but why do people like the m1 so much. Just because it was a midengined BMW? Wasn't it a flop and a fail that almost killed/bankrupted BMW
Because it's the very first M car? The birth of BMW Motorsport? That's a pretty great reason I'd say.

arent those same square headlight available on e30s? lol.

I like the car as a novelty car. Nothing about screams "I MUST OWN IT NAO". Would love the chance to sit in one and drive it but meh my future collection of awesome cars can do with out it.

on a sidenote the one george posted is dope for dopes sake. a little more camber and its ready to fly into the past/future.

I don't think so. They were a specific sealed beam that is NLA. They had to make a conversion kit for it to run H4656 and H4651.

The E30 setup, if my memory serves me right, used H4666 sealed beam bulbs.

Again, I could be way off with the E30 setup.

In the last 15 years my uncle has owned 5 or 6 of them... I've lost count. They are pretty cool cars. I am of the opinion that they aren't amazing looking, but when they are mint, they are definitely a cool looking car. They are very cool when you see and rid in/drive them. There are little things about them that make them unique and cool (stainless steel body work, doors, cock pit etc. Stock they are not fast, but they handle well and are still a blast to drive. Of all of the ones my uncle own, he's had one that was anything but stock and it had a very aggressive suspension and a stroker engine. It was much faster than stock, but still not knock-your-socks-off fast. But it handled amazingly and was fun as hell to drive. He had a complete car that had a front end collision that he bought for parts, and another driver that were both pretty much destroyed in the flood that hit the midwest (Iowa) last year.

When I'm older and have plenty of space and already have a bunch of the things I want, I would definitely own a nice one.

              Aren't they powered by a Volvo/Renault V6?

              I'd still drive one.

I have a Matchbox collection of them.

              I love DMC bro.

Actually it's known as the Peugeot Volvo Renault (PVR) motor. It's EXACTLY the same as the V6 offered in the Volvo 260 series back in the late 70s and early 80's. It was plagued with reliability problems and many owners would "upgrade" to the smaller turbo 4's that were more common and reliable.

Next time a Volvo 260 series is on ebay, check out the pics of the engine bay and compare it to the pics of a Delorean. You'll notice aside from some small cosmetic touches, the engines are exactly the same
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

I was waffling around with Peugeot/Renault. Always heard the engines were pretty crummy, but I'd still leave it in there for originality.

There is a DMC dealer in Bonita Springs, just north of Naples. It's pretty cool to see the cars in person. Definitely unique cars.

I would rock one. Definitely 80's memorabilia right there. lol

Saw DMC in thread title, thinking Delorean, disappoint to find ghey vid.

First reply says WTF, then delorean talk ensues for the remainder of the thread.

                          Wasted click averted. Thanks fellas!
