Test driving a 2012 kia optima tommorow....

This is a solicitation for educated opinions on 2012 cars. Especially someone who has looked at and driven them and especially a dealer.

Tommorow my Ex is taking me along for test driving new cars.

ABOUT WHAT SHE WANTS ( Please this is not my car so this is all that matters)

She is trading in her 98 camaro. It get terrible gas mileage and it has no functional back seat. She has an infant nephew that needs a back seat that holds a car carrier.

This car is getting shit canned for only this reason ok, so a ferrari with no back seat is a loser.

    She wants good gas mileage.

And she wants it to look really pimping.

So she asked so many questions the KIA dealer suckered her into test driving the optima with the panaramic roof

She Likes the roof. big sunroof is a plus.

    Automatic.

Ok now personally, I would never buy a KIA much less a brand new one.
But you can ignore a few things. First off shell never sell it so forget about resale value. She just turns the cars in before theyre paid off so fuck it.

It comes with a 10 year warranty. Thats a huge plus. She does not change her own oil

So in the time were test driving, tell me the models I should most show her to compare quality and ride?

I know I personally love the altima it looks like a tron car.

Also, if anyone knows kias what are the points to that model. Is it worth it to upgrade to the 2.0t ( not for me, for my ex a girl) etc.\

Which models have the cheapest lines that have leather also? I like leather.

Any info is useful. If anyone has seen the top sedans and were buying one soon which are they five they would test drive? And if you have experience with a 2012 sedan whats good about it.
Like whats good about an accord vs an optima?
Any info is great thanks. I have short notice to make a list of about 5

Garbage. I worked at a dealership and I could never take those cars seriously, which probably attributed to me leaving the job.

I can tell you firsthand those cars have recalls left and right. They have that 10 year/100k mile warranty for a reason. Do yourself and get something else.

Ok saying it sucks is fine. Im not the buyer though what should I test drive with her to change her opinion?

If you hate optimas what are the five you look at first?
Consumer reports lists it as above average reliability. Thats better than a lot of cars including a 3 series...I mean maybe that doesnt cover recalls. Honestly Ive never thought about a Kia optima before this week so help me out.

Is there another car like that with the panoramic roof? Or if not which cars that compete have a big glass sunroof? Or if not um... Is the vw model that is similar a passat at this point?

The Passat will have an overall better fit and finish than a Kia (most cars do nowadays)

If shes set on good gas mileage and reliability look at Honda, Nissan, and Toyota. I don't know how the new models are(I hate how they look and just don't pay attention) but some of the used ones are pretty damn good.

Why does it have to be a new car? You can find a much better deal used, even with low miles.

It is possible she could be convinced to buy a used car. However at this stage were test driving a new kia optima and a few other new cars. So she may possibly have a reason she wants a brand new car. So a camry and an accord and a altima seems logical, but not knowing whats different about them what am I trying to sell her on each one?
Believe me, its hard to argue finance with some people. Right now Im trying to come up with some money to try and buy her camaro before the vultures eat it.

So I dont personally want her buying anything just for that reason.

Get a god damn Toyota if you want good gas mileage and reliability. Korea has a long way to go before they can prove to me that they are halfway decent.

Well I know the car dealers will give her nothing, im sure it could be sold for 3-4k. They might even pretend to give her 3k for it, but its all phoney money they get from financing it.

Theyre liars and thieves and Id rather buy it and sell it before she gives it away for nothing.

Not a favor to her at all. I mean, Id rather she sold it than gave it to the dealers too. She could have 3-4k and take me out to dinner maybe lol.
but she wont be bothered with it so forget about it.

I smell a friendzoned situation coming up after a final decision is made. Good luck.

Get an Altima, Accord, or Camry. They are proven, reliable, and have been around for decades.

What about a Jetta? Especially if you can find a TDI. And you can get a wagon if space is part of the issue. Might be a little pricey though.

So your not going to be making any payments on this right? Are you guy's done for good? If not find the cheapest thing she will accept, or talk her into selling her car and buying something with the cash she has in hand (which is smart anyway, if you can't afford it, fuck it you don't need it).

You don't want to be making those payments on a new car if you get back together.

Im sorry for giving out so much personal information. I wont be paying her car payments regardless.
If I were in her shoes I would sell the car and buy a used one. A used accord maybe, something I needed to fix up for a steal.

But she wont be doing that. No need to convince her its insane and a waste of money. thats another subject please. Thanks though I hear you I agree with you. I wont be consulted about whats the smartest purchase just whats the best car. I wont be getting back together with her but theres a good chance Ill drive it occasionally.

Gotcha well then thats all on her. And I didn't mean to offend in any way!

Just tell her Kia's aren't reliable like your typical japanese vehicles.
