Plea for help, internet connection on PS3

I googled everything i could, i CANNOT connect to the internet.
There is a router in another room and for my computer i use a wireless antenna thing for connection, the option of connecting a ethernet cable to my ps3 from that router is NOT AN OPTION. I have an 80gb ps. Everyone keeps telling me to connect it, but i CANT.
So i go to the settings, it detects the SSID, i input my WEP key....and it times out. Ive been searching for literally weeks, and it still wont connect. I have an ethernet cable from the back of my computer to the ps3, probably doesnt need to be there.
What the hell am i doing wrong? I just want to connect to the internet on the ps3 and it wont work. I have an 80gb one with supposed internal wifi.

Sounds strange, im on my 2 ps3 and its been no struggle at all.
If theres something wrong with wireless on the ps3 you should be able to set the computer to share internet through the cable, bot i dont remeber how to..

First of all get rid of the fucking WEP encryption.

Any monkey with a dictionary attack can break that shit.

Then reset the router and connect again, if that wont work bridge your PS3 to your pc.

If that wont work run a fucking wire like real men do, and don't use that shitty fucking wifi and lag the shit out of everyone else in Call of Duty.

ok well i had an ethernet cable plugged in from the back of my PC to the PS3, didnt know any better, so i pulled it out and magically its connected to the internet.
I just wanted to get downloadable content, i suck at multiplayer games :D

Im not very good with computers, but had a tech on the phone and saw that there is no password or anything to the network, not my router/house but damn if thats not a identity thief's dream/
