      Just pointing this out, that is a 1st Gen Smart, the smaller one that we didn't get in the States. It was shorter to the point of it actually LEGALLY being able to nose into curbs instead of parallel parking in most of Europe. Trying this same 'fitment' with a US Smart (the 2nd Gen to the rest of the world) would require an extended bed. But that would leave plenty of extra room! :)

      I'm not sure about curb hopping, but most of the rest of that 'test drive' detailed before sounds like any other day for my Smart. Just got back from a trip to LA yesterday that averaged 80mph at about 42mpg according to the ScanGaugeII. You can't do that without some bobbing and weaving in traffic. Gets much better mileage on the highway than my e30 does. :P
