I just got pulled over street luging!!!

If you only want to read some of my awesome story the part with the ***'s is the climax!!

I built a street luge (http://www.skateluge.com/stluge.htm) a few years ago out of long board parts and angle iron found on stop signs, and recently me and my friends have rediscovered this enjoyable past time...

So for the past 4 weeks we've been going out late at night with motorcycle gear on and finding huge hills around town to go down. Top speed on the thing is 50mph, and was recorded by gps in my pocket.

***Tonight after about 2 hours of street luging I'm coming down this hill going about 40mph (my friend is following me from about 50ft back in a truck) and I see a cop take a turn onto the same road. I quickly tried to think of a way to go unseen but figure its already to late. The cop quickly turned around a flipped on his lights as we pulled off the main road. Both my friend and I are "experienced" with cops so we handled it pretty well. He asked us a few question like if we were under the influence of substance and why we were doing this, and told us that we were a safety hazard to ourselves then when to his car.***

5 min later he came back with our id's and told us that there were no laws prohibiting street luging but that we should maybe reconsider the time of day we do it at and the roads we choose. He also recommended we get some reflectors. We laughed about that all the way to the other side of town where we found another hill and went again!!!

This all happened less than an hour ago at 12am. So now I am going to bed since I have to wake up tomorrow.

    50mph?! That's insane.

I don't want to sound like a safety nut, but reflectors really wouldn't be a bad idea.

Ive done it on one that was built by a manufacturer, I doubt I got anywhere near 50mph though. Maybe 30. It feels fast though. For 50+ I would definately be rocking a full-face and leather
          Im now E30less.

I always thought it was one of the more badass events on the old school x games. What the hell happened? Snowboard big air in the summer was badass as well. What the hell.

We are probably going to get a orange vest to wear, and some bike reflectors before we go again. We already have a motorcycle helmet, it looks badass!!1

Pff... Reflectors are for pansies. Just don't luge where there are cars. It's that simple. Also, knee pads are kind of un-needed. Ass pads would be a better idea. lol

I've always thought a land version of skeleton luging (I.E. - Head first) would be fun. A bit more dangerous though, but all truly fun things are.
