lol this is what I did with my tail lights until I got a higher watt bulb and now no problems. never got a ticket just warnings of how low the light looks.

in california you can pay the fine. I've never owned a car in the past 20 years that wasn't tinted. I've been pulled over twice... Received only one ticket, pay it and leave the tint on, i refer to it as my tint tax.

And to all you idiots that bust his balls for tinting... Stop driving over 55 or whatever else you do that's illegal before you open your fat trap.
