i'm glad to see that this thread has taken a turn for the intellectual.
Sully, it's neat to see that you can make a living off of the green rush. It had been an idea of mine a few years ago to move out west and hop into a garden but I always had the feeling that, no matter how much energy and time I put into growing, I would not be able to make a living off of it alone. Do you work otherwise?
I (may or may not) know just how exciting it is to see such beautiful plants blow up. It's cool to know that I'm not the only green thumb around here

A MMJ card in Sonoma County allows 30 plants and 3lbs in posession (formerly 99) so 3-4 cards per area equates to 90-120 plants and 9-12lbs. California is the land of opportunity, so why not indulge. All it takes is an investment (with a quick ROI) and resources.

I do not work otherwise, not to toot my own horn but I do very well but not only through this endeavor. I use my money to invest in stocks, gold (cliche but profitable) All I can reccomend is research, it's a very touchy subject. Where I live in Somoma County the limit is 30 plants per card and multiple cards can be combined per household. But just 10 miles south of me in Marin country it's only 8. So to stay legal you need to research location to make a decent wage. I'm not one that takes advantage of the system growing a million plants and shooting for a Ferrari. FFS I drive an E30 lol, I make more than enough to sustain my living standards, but it's a difficult nut to crack. I don't take advantage of patients and dispensaries, I pay myself a decent wage for the time and effort it took to grow the ultimate product, including my externalities such as electricity, pots, nutrients, basically everything. My profit margin is more than generous and that's split 3 ways in one location. Not only do you have to manipulate and sustain plant growth, be prepared for $2k electricity bills. It depends how far you want to go with it, but I wouldn't reccomend packing up and dropping everything because you'd have rent to consider, etc. there's too many variables unless you were planning on coming out here anyways. It sort of fell in my lap Being born and raised here, so I took advantage, I'm not sure if I would pursue it.

again, It's neat to see that you can just do that + investments and make a decent living. Plants take a lot of time, energy, and care and I know that you're not just sitting around all day watching the grass grow. + 90-120 plants, that must take hours to water and inspect

See, another touchy subject. Colorado doesn't recognize mental illnesses as a qualification for a MMJ card. I have mine for anxiety and insomnia related anxiety, which is true. I'd rather smoke a bowl than eat xanax any day, but Colorado only recognizes physical conditions. So unless you have cancer, Alzheimer's, HIV, etc. you're SOL. Believe me, once the bill passed in Colorado I was going to move there and take it over, then I realized I'm in perfect physical health after a consultation of a Colorado lawyer.

tits or gtfoOriginally posted by Rsully70sev View PostThank you sir, always nice to hear good feedback. Business is my passion [and my major] so I decided to combine my favorite things-marijuana, business, marketing, and money. All while keeping it legal, it also helps that I have parents that not necessarily condone my agricultural adventures, but allow it knowing it's being done properly. And yes sir, same age-20 years old and already have quite the stock portfolio, started my 401k, and in the near future looking into property with my brother. It's all about investments man, pennies fill the well over time.
