    potentially really cool road trip.

    sup.
my friend has a 1992 Audi 100S which was basically the fucking shit back in the days, $80,000 retail value or something like that.
now a junkyard will be the top dollar buyer for it. mechanically its a fucking tank, for more than 15,000 city ONLY miles (he's a delivery driver) my friends put on it, it has never let him down and he's done literally no maintainence on it. it has a timing belt which god knows when it was changed. the interior is shit and crumbling apart (though a really comfy quiet ride) and the exterior is shit as well. but anyway we regard this car as completely fucking unstoppable with no hesitation to drive it anywhere, and while its valueless, it simply holds its own worth by being so unstoppable.

that being said, we're planning a roadtrip to california from jersey in it. No extra maintaince done, no timing belt change, nothing, MAYBE an oil change. the plan is, if it makes it, that would be awesome. if it doesn't, whereever it dies we would simply leave it on the side of the road for a junkyard to buy it and take a plane back to jersey. money aint a problem and i've never left the east coast.
discuss if this is relatively cool/undoubtedly stupid/ a cool story

Video documentations must be had with this trip.

    That is all.

I have driven my old e30 across this country 3 times, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

Hit the National Parks, take old route 66 (better than freeways), and southern Utah is surprisingly beautiful

Take Pics, I have over 22gig that I have yet to sort through

Personally it sounds like kind of a shit-show waiting to happen unless you do the basic maintenance stuff before going.

but i guess that's kind of the point, huh? sounds interesting and a cross-country road-trip sounds great but I'd want to know that the car isn't going to crap out along the way

If you have a worse case plan back, then go for it.

We should all take bets on how far they'll go. Map out the route, and we'll post markers where we think they'll break down. Closest marker gets a hug from me.

What happens if it dies like 2 days in and your 2-3 week trip is ruined?

They've got the rest of the time off to walk back home.
