OP have you checked to see if your getting spark. Take plug out connect to plug wire have some one crank the engine while holding plug with a set of insulated pliers against block. You will see the spark if the points and condenser are working properly.

Check the C104, the pins usually corrode causing the injector harness to receive a less-than-acceptable signal.

Quite common on that engine for the dizzy to corrode to the point where spark will be a rare occurrence. May be possible to sand the corrosion back, as I did on mine. Also worth testing the ignition coil, expecting about .5 ohms primary and 6kish primary to secondary.

Failing that, another possibility is the ignition wire from the DME. Unplug the DME and the coil, and test the resistance of the ignition wire to it's shield. If you have very low resistance, first make sure you've unplugged everything, then you need to isolate which section of the cable is causing the problem. One common area is the ignition wire that runs from the splice to the diagnostics plug. This can be crimped underneath the coolant tank.

In all seriousness though, do the spark test but make sure you've removed all the fuel and cut off supply. Most bowls should have some type of drain plug in them. If you're getting no spark it means either your points or the coil is fucked.

Don't know that engine, but on my mower the coil has a magnetic field induced in it by a magnet on the flywheel, which then collapses when the points close producing a spark. The flywheel is also the cooling fan on most small engines. Check the gap for this and the connections coming out of it. On mine, the points are hidden under the flywheel under a small cover. Dunno where yours are, but find em and check that they open and close appropriately, that the screws holding them in aren't loose etc etc. Also check for corrosion or shit on the points, and sand them back if necessary.

This is a sure sign that you need to clean and potentially rebuild the carb. The needle is stuck which is forcing the float down and therefore never stopping the flow of gas. Gravity's a bitch.

Have you hit something really hard with the blades on this thing. Not normally an issue on the riders, its a push mower thing, is a sheared woodruff key keeping the fly wheel in the correct location on the crank. So that the magnets pass at the correct time to make the spark. If that key shears and the fly slips on the crank it will not be in proper timing, and will not start. I have had them sputter a little sometimes with a sheared key, but normally not run at all.

I used to fix lawn mowers and similar shit, for extra money as a kid, and I think I only found a fucked up key on 1 rider is all that time

Do you have gas running out of the air box/ around the carb?? That would be a stuck or sunk float. Was that plug wet with gas when you pulled it out or just fouled??

Have you checked to make sure the oil level is up to the correct level??? If not the oil protection sensor will not let you start the thing. Also check the to make sure the Oil level/Oil Protection sensor is working right, and the wire is not cut or its unplugged.

It could be an old gas issue causing the carb issue, but in my experience that is rare, as it seems everyone I know leaves untreated gas in almost everything for the off season for their power equipment with out real issue. I have been known to not properly store my lawn mower and what not as well and have never had issues with shitty fuel
