Off lease is probably your best bet as leasers usually get dealers service. Most dealers wont sell a car off lease unless it was serviced at their dealership. The remainder of the warrant gets transferred to you too. You pay a little more but then you know it wasnt completely neglected. BTW your wife wants an e30 m3? Hang onto her! Most girls I know hate e30s. Something about no cupholders and boxy looking.

anyone mention the Jetta TDi yet? crazy good gas mileage, very safe, plenty of room, holds resale value like gold, and very mechanically sound?

If you can find a 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 V8, they are usally pretty cheap...heck people practically give them away because of the fuel economy. But the depreciation is pretty much done and you'll have plenty of money left over for the fuel.

I sold my Navigator and bike to get an E46 330i sedan. My other choice was a 528i wagon, but the place I was going to offer cash for it had a dead battery and the hood wouldn't open. I walked away on that one. lol

I'm pretty happy with it. I did the E46 because I wanted to stay in the BMW family.

when my son was born 2 years ago gave up our beloved e34 525i and got a 2002 passat wagon for 7k, fully loaded w/ 30v V6 which is decenty powerfull, and 4motion AWD (we live in Colorado) the veedub is nowhere near as cool as the e34 was, but it does have ALOT of room, and my wife likes it and feels safe. its at 168k now, helped us out in 3 moves, and hasnt given us any issues.
