Vintage: Hotel problems. UPDATE! ^_^

So, I booked my room in like January at The Hawtorne. Now I'm getting calls that they want to move me to make room for someone because they are in kahootz with a hospital. They want to move me to a Holiday Inn two exits down, right next to the hospital.

You knew I was reserved for MONTHS. Now your waiting for the week before the event to bring this up. No shit there aren't any rooms available....EVERYONE BOOKED AHEAD OF TIME.

Here's the e-mail I got when I told them I wasn't willing to be moved:

The problem is that we are sold out that night…and there is not another room for that night….I will not move you today…I will give the front office mgr your email …because things change daily….if she absolutely has to move you…she will notify you asap!.....but I do appreciate your willingness to be moved to another property so that a patient family can stay……

I guess besides venting, I wanted to see if anyone else was getting these calls/e-mails?

My opinion says they should have rooms set aside. First come, first served. Also, I would love to have been contacted sooner to make other arrangements so I'm not the only one staying in bumfuck Egypt away from all the action.

I have done it before, but they refunded my costs and paid for the other hotel for those nights.
Similar to a flight i was on that they over sold. They asked if anyone was willing to take a later flight, so i did and they gave me half my flight cost back. $800

I guess my thing is I know there are other people they can call and make arrangements with. Seems this kind of shit always happens to me. I plan a nice "vacation" with the lady. Go check out some cool cars, meet some awesome people, drink in the parking lot until 4am, etc, etc.

Then, NOPEEEE! Fuck your plans.

I wouldn't put up with it. I would either tell them they need to pay for your "new" hotel, or you stay in your room. The hampton down the highway isn't full. Let those suckers stay there. The long and the short of it is this. DO they want YOUR business EVERY Memorial day? Or this person's business just a few nights. Tell them you will never stay there again, and you have friends that will not stay there. I can send them an email to back you up as well. Of course I'm going to need the whole story. Did they ask you if you were willing to move? Did you say yes?
This isn't how a hotel should treat people who are trying to support a "festival" that could very welll be moved somewhere else in NC due to lack of hospitality.
Get my drift?

Where at holiday inn?
thats cray. You still need to drive further to the meet. Your time is more valuable than that. Tell them you want that rate at an actual HOTEL. Not some shitty holiday inn. Is there a Hilton near there? Have them put you up in that for 65 bucks a night. Your girl and you will be fine with the extra driving. Tell them you want the hilton, on the diamond level. The breakfast at the Hawthorn will never beet that deal.

Pretty much they called me asking if it was alright. I was at work so I said I'd have to check with the room mate (my GF). Told them the easiest way was to contact me by e-mail. I replied to their e-mail explaining that they were the host hotel and the place to be, and that I was refusing to give up my room.

The message I got back was quoted above, word for word.

I told them I would be willing to downgrade (as I got a nice room since it was availible and we're kinda using this as a getaway for the two of us ;);) ) as long as I could stay in the Hawthorne. Kind of a find someone else to kick out who didn't reserve as far in advance as I did thing.

Lol, I'm close to just cancelling, packing up the Rover, and camping out in that in the parking lot. Use a fellow Vintage-attnedee's shower, etc. Poop in their bushes. Pee in their birdbaths.
