focus does seem really nice but $16,00 is already almost more than i would ever spend on a vehicle for economy, Hyundai has 10 year/ 100,000 mile powertrain warranty 5 year/ 60,000 mile bumper to bumper.

not made up yet. my wifes e30 needs a lot of work, i suppose i could just put money into that. but i thinkn id like a new car you know what i mean? something quite, cumfy, GREAT gas mileage, and nothing to worry about for 10 years lol. i mean i can put down like 3-4 k my payments would be close to
        $200 bucks a month.

It feels a little more powerful then the Accent (not saying much) and deffinitly rode better in the corners then the Hyundai.

The only major advantage of the Hyundai over the Ford was the heated seats being a little cheaper in the Hyundai. However after I had them both optioned out for what I wanted they cost more or less the same price.

I can't tell you which one would be a better car, but I love my Fiesta. The best thing I can say about her, 39 real world MPG. The worst I ever had was 33 MPG.

Maybe a Kia Forte? Comes with a similar warranty and the styling is MUCH better IMO.. Honestly, you can't go wrong with the Ford Fiesta... One of the only cars I would ever contemplate buying new

However, I'm super prejudice about buying a new car. I'd rather buy old and fix up. It's not as much face value, but with the money you save fixing up rather than buying a new car, it adds up. I'd rather deal with a car that's bottomed out at 2k and put 2k into it fixing it up than deal with a car that's 16k now and will be worth 8k in 4 years. At least I know the 2k car will still always be worth 2k and I can always get that back

However, since this is for the wifey, that's a whole new story

They're on the right track with the Optima though.. That thing is eye-candy..!

                Ya its the kia optima...

the hyundai elantra I think. very similar, they use the same interior engine everything but the sheet metal.

But the KIA looks cooler and it has a more complete options thing.

Both those cars look a bit cheap to me but they haul ass.

So far as I can tell they use a 2 liter turbo that is more powerful than the bmw 2 liter tt turbo.
Really its cutting edge as far as a production car there is nothing like it available anywhere else.

You can compare it to an accord v6 but, it gets better gas mileage. Its a 4 T production car... First on the modern market beats bmw by a year.

Beats all other cars in its category. Went from nothing to big time overnight because of that car. I have test driven one and its pimp. If I were buying a new car I couldnt live with myself if I chose an accord over an optima.

I am Canadian, so my prices are a litte higher then your's will be.

I have a 5 speed, lime green hatch SE 2011. I got it during the Ford family pricing and paid 16,000ish total (including freight PDI all the Canadian taxes ect.) Put down 5k and am paying 250 a month with 4.9% financing. This way my first not Toyota and my first new car, I didn't really have the credit rating to be able to find a lower rate with one of the banks, so I went with Ford credit.

These guys are coming out with very nice models. I'd buy one, I havent really heard any complaints about them yet... who knows I could be wrong.

Put together like shit, ride like shit, handle like shit. On the highway feels like its hydroplaning on a dry day.

The Optima is decent but I havent been in a hyuhaunayhnutdie that just doesnt seem like crap. The ford might be 4k more but its 8k more car. Of all of the H cars Ive had as rentals even after a few thousand miles the interiors are either falling apart or feel like they are on their last legs.

But if youre convinced you want the cheapest new car around then go for it, good luck.

My dad has a 2010 (?) MT Elantra. I believe it was the last model year of the last generation and it's not a bad car really. I drove it around for a week or so and got 36mpg in Vermont, where there are no flat roads. It was only 5-speed though, and the ratios were painfully long. That and the steering sucks. So. Much. I can't stress this enough.

So if you're wife cares about the actual driving experience, don't get that electrically assisted everything bullshit. It just is not well implemented. Otherwise, new Hyundais are cheap, good looking in many case, and not 25 years old.
