    Gaming headsets

I know we have a headphone thread but that is not the same thing as a gaming headset.

So I am looking to replace my old x11 setup. I have heard nothing but good things about the Steelseries 7H. I am going to pair it with a Astro Mixamp to allow it to work with my Xbox 360. Also on the fence about the Sennheiser PC350, price is about the same but I have heard they don't hold up that well? Only two people have told me that from personal use.

This setup will cost about the same as the Astro A40s/mixamp. But I have heard that the astros had wiring issues in early stages till 2011.

Looking for any feedback on the 7H headset, would be a plus if anyone games with them on XBL or PS3.

Also wondering if there is any other ideas around the mixamp, I am hooking up to a Xbox 360 slim 250gb. 2.5mm male mic jack. USB ports and using VGA xbox cables with the red and yellow for sound.

VGA is for hooking up into my Asus:

If you want a headset with a mix amp, just get the Astro A40 bundle from Astro Gaming. 250$ i think, comes ready to plug and play with probably the best quality you can buy with 250$.

I had TB x11's and they are great for the 50$ i spent on them. i see no reason to spend more than 50$, unless you're in competitive gaming. I got Astros after a competition I went to in boston after trying them out, and they are better than the X11's; but as you go up in price, the quality doesn't stay proportionate. (meant as: when you reach the 150$ mark, the quality barely increases if you buy a 250$ set.

I play MLG for Halo3 and Reach so i ton of my friends all use the Astro a40s. They say they are not built to last well. But I am not sure if they care for them or not. I can pick up a set of Astro A40s locally for 180 with the mixamp. Mixamp is 129+tx/sh so it is a good savings to get the headset for a little more. But I am really in love with the 7H headset from SSeries. I just don't know anyone that owns a set to tell me how they feel etc.

^ well I can tell you if your friends are saying that the astros aren't built to last, they're really careless with their gear. My A40's look and perform the same as the day I bought them. Also, all of the players I play with use astros now, and they have never had a problem after about 2 years playing competitively and traveling (so packing them up, bringing them out, and so on)

The 7H series you mentioned look very comfy. I've never tried them, but you may want to attempt to try them on, make sure they fit your head. Tritons never fit me well. TBs and Astros fit comfortably.

How big is your head? I wear a 8.5 hat so I guess I have a big head? lol

I am trying to find a set of 7H to try on, reviews are 9/10 or 10/10 on them. Just amazing headsets. I just did not know if there is any way around the Mixamp.

I'm a medium to small head. I fit into a 7-7 1/8. And rather small ears lol. so most fit me well, except the ear pieces for the tritons sat wierd on my ears.

make sure you get one with a mic that has a thick base, I always break them there and have to duck tape it. other wise I just buy mid road headsets like $20-$40 could here assholes trying to defuse bombs from so far away in COD and reload. headsets don't make you better if anyone was thinking that. Have you had your hearing ever cheacked? I have to do it yearly, always perfect.

What about x31's Idk if they sound the same as x11's, but they don't have the annoying wires so that's better I guess. I think astro's are way too overpriced, now I know they're the best of the best, but x31's still look, sound and sit pretty good on your head. And their like 100 bucks!

I only want wired, wireless is annoying with recharging batteries and stuff. I also don't want a wireless object on my head for hours at a time.

I have x11, x31, and a40 all sitting near my xbox. I dont touch my x31 because the mic never turns off and TB won't do anything about them. my x31 are my everyday headset when I play bf3, and my a40 are religiously taken to friends houses, as they are rarely connected at home.
