I've spent some time in the new Eclass and was really impressed. Tried to convince my mother in law to get one but they went with the SUV instead. I know its a bit of a different animal but my dad had an E55 for a while, that thing was a beast!!!

W124's are the only E class that I would buy. but with that said, they are pretty hard to find for sale. Most owners love them and keep them till death, whether it's the car or owner. lol I think the early to mid 90's is when the Germans decided to stop over engineering their cars.

W210's are pretty safe cars in my experience. I was involved in 2 accidents with 2 W210's and walked away from both accidents without a scratch. Both were totaled out. I like to think those body styles don't like me. lol

This. If your really worried about safety don't buy a 15 year old car.

Plus If your wife is going to be driving it definitely wouldn't get a RWD car. Do your self a favor by a 2013 Nissan Versa Sedan. It earned a Top Safety Pick From IIHS. Gets 38 mpg. Its huge and it comes with a 5 yr. / 60,000 mi warranty all for just $11k new. You got enough of a headache with a kid, I would be sensible and buy something you won't have to worry about until he is 5.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)
