Shipping stuff in SoCal? Pricing WTF

Tried to ship E36 M3 door panels today to Alabama... UPS store tried to charge me $250 WHAT THE FUCK.

Anyone got tips/recommendations or got a hookup on shipping in the Inland Empire? Gah-damn.

Dude, UPS store tried to quote me $742 to send an e36 m3 rear bumper to San Diego today.

They told me it's because they are independent franchises when it comes to freight sized stuff, so they don't get good rates. Greyhound quoted me ~$180.

My advice to the OP is to go to any business that has a UPS account (helps if you have a friend that works at said business. Also its best if you not get into a fight with a dude inside the store) And send it through them. I've shipped boxes in all weird shapes and sizes and boxes up to 100 pounds across country for ~$40. All through my work that uses UPS worldship

FEDEX ground. Seems to ALWAYS be WAY cheaper than UPS.

you can go to the ups website and create your own shipping label. they have consistent rates based on your box size.

then take the box to the ups store and they'll put it on the truck.

never, ever pay a strip mall shipper to handle your stuff. all the shippers have websites where you can DIY.

and better yet, learn how to use the PayPal/UPS shipping system.

Took me 4 days to get it down, but I am retarded. I get killer rates and great communication

^ Regardless of the price, I'd never smash someone in the face with an exhaust camshaft over shipping. ;)

Like Luke said, I use PayPal/UPS for most of my stuff, get at least 15% better pricing than what the store charges. There are some things that just won't work that way because the sizing is not within their range and they require it to go "freight"

I've shipped many sets of E30 door panels (front and rear) and it costs about $50 through FedEx.
