Anyone ever just up and move somewhere?

The more I think of something like this the better I feel in general. The problem is I have a great job (which I like) and would be moving away from all my friends etc.

Anyone on r3v do this before? Results?

Just moved from GA to CA at the beginning of April with no job waiting just because my fiancee wanted to be back with her family. So far has seemed to go ok, got 1 job and another job offer already, haven't really had time to meet new people yet though.

You sound like you're in the exact spot I'm in. I like my job, I like my friends but I'm just craving something different lately.

Seems like there is a LOT going on in CA. (also 82% of r3v members there it seems haha)

I think changing things (even my desk at work) seems to break things up better for me time perception wise.

I bought a house that I've been living in for 2 years and even though I've done a lot of remodeling but it feels like I've been here for 2 years and another 2 years will go by in the blink of an eye.

In 1992, I joined the Army and was gone to Oklahoma a few weeks later. Then in 1994, I came to Germany with a duffle bag and myself. been here ever since. Home is where ever you are.

Never planned to stay here more than a few years, and one day I plan to just sell everything and move somewhere again (when my daughter moves out)

I am glad I just didn't stay in the Chicago suburbs and have seen this side of the world- although I miss the U.S. alot.

I joined the Coast Guard in February of 2009, since then I did basic in cape may, nj. Lived in Kodiak, AK for a year and a half. And been between north Carolina and Virginia the last 1.5 years. I enjoy the moving and getting to live in different places and meeting new people. Before that I lived in SoCal for almost 23 years. It sucks leaving close friends and family, but you soon make new ones.
I have friends who are EOD bro.

That's awesome. I have friends who make coffee for a living, but you don't see me rocking out a bunch of lattes

I'm doing it at the end of the summer...A little planned but not really, as soon as my lease is up I'm packing small stuff in my e30 and heading down to Charleston, SC. Once I find a place to stay I'm gonna fly back to Boston and rent a U-haul to take the rest of my shit down then drive back down there

I'm leaving SoCal for NorCal. None to happy with it, but I know people up there and I MAY have a couple job offers. If not, I can just asked to get transferred.

Me and my girlfriend were living in Lawrenceburg, IN. We were tired of the town, shitty jobs, drama, and no future there. So we went to a dealership to trade in my cobra so that we could have a decent road trip car. We talked to our sales rep for a bit and he mentioned that he just came back from Phoenix, AZ a couple weeks before. We looked at eachother and said"Phoenix?" A week later we packed up and were checking in a hotel in Peoria, AZ with nothing but our dogs and what we could pack in the car. We had noone out here that we knew and no jobs lined up. We've been here for about a year now and we both have amazing jobs. I have a career already starting up and we have a future here.

it's escapism. if you've got issues where you live now, make sure they aren't issues with yourself and your outlook. you can never outrun those.
