    So R3V, what motorcycle?

Wife has banned getting another sportbike.

Maybe a Sportster in the old bobber style, modded to handle? A V-Rod?

    An adventure type dual sport?

A Ducati monster is basically a naked sport bike.

If I was buying a bike, it would be a BMW R65, or 80. Everything unnecessary removed, better suspension, single seat, clip on handle bars. Better carbies and exhaust.

          Quintessential cafe racer.

When they look like this stock, it shouldn't be too hard to trick the wife into thinking it's not a "sports" bike.

                Well, not necessarily.

The style of riding/bike was common all over Europe but I guess they wouldn't have had the same Brit rocker culture.

The idea of the cafe racer though was to take what's available and make it faster, handle better. The move to Jap bikes happened due to the bang for buck aspect. It was all in the name of fun, never about brand loyalty, or nationalist ideals.

Good question. It used to be mostly riding over into Arkansas for the twisties, 350-400 mile days on the R6.

I'd think now, would be some nice weather commuting. Occasional back road blasts, possibly taking the wife for dinner or lunch a bit out of town.

Still mostly riding by myself. Would do early rides into Arkansas on weekends where she is working.

So, actually something like a Monster could be perfect.

                          Fuck a Buell, R1200c streetfighter:

Back in 1997, BMW took a tilt at the Harley-Davidson market with the R1200C. It was big and relatively underpowered, with just 61bhp—but Teutonic…

Right on. I will say if the monster has one weakness it is the passenger seat. Its ok for a little while but a several hour ride is unpleasant at least that is what my girl says.

I doubt she would ever want to go for SEVERAL hours, but maybe a 1-2 hours each way to an out of the way restaurant......
