BTW, sorry guys for derailing this thread, about a man who truly opened doors to reducing police brutality/racial profiling. I just use R3v as my endless playground to mess with LBV.

Watching documentaries about the LA riots/King have been really emotionally moving for me, and have pushed me to wonder about the different dimensions which our modern American society lives in. It's pathetic that in this day and age, in a so-called equal society, shit like this happens, and scumbags get away with it, just because of their badge. (Don't take this the wrong way - peace officers maintain order in our society, I'm just referring to those certain racist/bigots who use their badges as weapons).

Anyways, sorry for the long, most-likely cliche or repetitive rant, just felt bad about my shens.
        You have no clue.

Ok so he wasn't that good of a guy but I think getting the shit beat out of you by 4 cops with metal sticks earns you a few "get-out-of-jail-free" cards ( not saying I agree with what he did) I'm just saying he's dead now so lets let him rest... enough said.

Did the cops go way over the line? Yes.

If he hadn't been such a worthless waste of breath, would he have been in that situation? No.

Just because someone is a worthless waste of breath doesn't make 57 baton strikes for running from the cops justifiable...does it?

hopped up on god knows what, not listening and resisting, yeah, he got pretty much what he deserved. Only reason it became a big deal was due to edited video. Now a days they would have tazed the shit out of him and it would have been the end of it.

Assholes like this that resist arrest are the leading cause of why normal people have bad experiences with the police, they are used to dealing with assholes who dont listen and are therefore ready (shall i say too ready) to use heightened force to gain compliance.

One thing I do remember was that the cops claimed he was do 120 MPH

California Highway Patrol officers observed King's car traveling at a speed they estimated to be in excess of 100 m.p. h.
The car he was driving, was the same model as my first car (I had it for about 6 months before I got a e21). I know for a fact that the car can't to anything close to 100 mph. 82 MPH and it's done. It made me wonder....I remember thinking, "what else did the cops lied about?"

I bet you haven't seen the rest of his rap sheet either, have you?

                        Prior to him becoming famous:

Yep, the guy was a model citizen.
I was going to say. The brutality was a piss poor way to handle the situation, but to say HE opened the doors to how we view the police is a mis-statement. The person video taping opened the doors. HE was a criminal.
                        Either way, RIP/
And Freeride, you and the rest of the kids on here haven't a clue. The day of the verdict, was effing scary. Keep this in mind though, they trashed their ENTIRE community and beat innocent people to what? Prove a point? They LOOTED and rioted. And it was a jury's fault theyy did so? Shit, when OJ's verdict came down, there was a HUGE police presence in LA to make sure nothing happened again... What does that say? You have watched the footage, but if you weren't alive to see how it transpired, and how Reginald Denny was beaten down just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, watching it on TV feeling hopeless... You havem't a clue.

Clear across the country that day in my home town

There is a culture of violence in certain segments of our society.

                          That's what it says.

It shouldn't and it clearly didn't work in this case, cause this waste of life saw weakness and got away with more on the assumption that he could get away with anything.
