Check the oil level in both the motor and the pump. I'll bet one of them is low. That is why it won't start. We have 2 pressure washers at work and when ever they won't start, I check the oil, add the required amount and then they work fine.

      - Re installed carb to find that the linkage is jacked. The choke works great, but the throttle/governor linkage is messed up... the thing is always at full throttle. Cant figure out how it works though, and spring seems springy enough. The repair blow apart diagrams didnt help much at all.

So I guess I found the problem? lol
Governors usually sit at full throttle when the engine is at 0 RPM - at least on small engines they just limit engine speed.

I bet that magneto is real purdy right now - but probably works just as well as before...

Well, the way the throttle linkage is right now, it doesnt adjust anything

I added a little oil, it was right below the lowest mark. Pump oil is fairly fresh

Based on what you posted so far... suggest the following:

          Pull the plug
          Put in fresh gas
Pull the starter on it at least a dozen times to run any old gas through the lines and all
Blow compressed air into cylinder to dry it out
Reinstall clean dry plug and then try to start it

Have you tried the starter fluid trick? Or a sniff of gas down the carb?

LOL... put it all back together.. fired up first start!

                Today I:
                - cleaned the air filter housing
                - re installed gas tank
                - Took throttle/governor spring and cut 2 or 3 coils out out of it (to make it stiffer)
                - Added fresh gas

Now it idles too high though. Pulled back all the covers and saw that the spring was too tight. Loosened up the spring and put it back on.

Idling without the trigger being pulled is still too high
With trigger pulled (load) it is perfect. Any ideas?

I am thinking my spring is just not right and I messed it up... off to order a new one

Troubles with starting small engines are carb related 95% of the time. Glad to hear that you got it fixed.

Yeah, you screwed up the spring. They are very flimsy things.

By cutting the spring to make it "stiffer" you shortened it, changing the default setpoint. just an FYI.

I cut it and stretched it a little. No big deal, it works good enough for right now.

New spring should be here by next tuesday
