Yeah no way you will get 1 Eth in 12 days. My 1070 hashes ETH at 31mh/s which comes out to like 200 days.

I'm thinking smaller altcoins. Something that's easier to mine. Bitcoin takes quite a bit. Mine smaller, and you'll get a nice small bit of extra income. I'm seeing if mining ethereum with my phone will actually work. I've calculated 12 days at the current rate will get me 1 ETH. I'm guessing it's probably too good to be true, but we'll see. I've got my wallet set up and all. I've also got my old S6 running it.

Ahhh, alrighty then. I'm actually looking into mining Etherium for a small passive income. Might set up my old S6 as a passive miner as well. Doesn't kill the processor.

i'm currently working on rebuilding my mining rig- will have 3 GPUs merge-mining ethereum and pascal.

after i get that up, i'll fire up my little farm of scrypt ASICs, merge-mining litecoin and dogecoin.

both of the secondary currencies (pascal and doge) will get flipped to bitcoin. those 3 currencies (ETH, LTC, BTC) will all be stored in coinbase- they've been around long enough that i trust them not to be a fly-by-night operation.

since your next question is probably "what's merge-mining"; lots of cryptocurrencies are forked off of each other and use the same cryptographic algorithm. this means the work the hardware is doing can be submitted to both blockchains.

^ exactly what I did. $100-150 in each with another $25 here and there when they dip.

Impossible to chase a winner, definitely wise to put a few hundred in each. With BTC coming more and more into the mainstream, I suspect it will still be currency to bank on.

I've been eyeballing some Ethereum. I feel like you can't really go wrong at this point with any of them, especially when I can blow a few hundo on bullshit I don't need. May as well dip into this and ride the wave.

I was getting ready to build a gaming rig in the next month or two, are the new currencies still worth mining with a GPU or ?

I got into BTC, LTC and ETH about 6 weeks ago, just shy of doubling my money as of this morning. Not too shabby.

I believe that crypto is going to become a powerhouse in emerging markets and/or those where fiat currency has become hyper inflated and/or destabilized. I was just reading the other day about migrants from African nations are sending more crypto home than any other currency. Venezuelans are adopting it as well.

Regarding the long term viability of crypto, I think we're just at the tip of the iceberg (similar to the internet in '98ish).
