It would take about a month (or two to be safe) to be in the green and clear those GC's. I'd be seeing a return the minute I turn the pc on. They're expensive but they do work.
Idk what an fpga is and how it relates to mining. (I'm not a computer nerd as much as I'd like to be, but I figured out bitcoining lol) We researched and blueprinted what everyone else is using to mine and what would be most efficient.

Just sold another on eBay for $160, took about an hour.
Now building two rigs using 3x XFX ATI Radeon 7970's in each which should be good for 3.6g/hash; I'm expecting an ROI of $75/day. If all goes well, I'm building 10 more.

That's like trying to relate them to Pokemon cards or Beanie Babies. It's not the same whatsoever, don't believe me?
Just watch...
Sold one last night to test the waters...for $130.00 in 26 minutes

Many years ago, pre-internet, I used to be into this customizable card game, similar to "Magic", if anyone is familiar with that. Even though a pack of 30 cards cost $5, if you got a rare card, it could be worth upwards of $100 for one card as that was the going rate for the geeks like me that were playing the game. Well, the fad died along with the game and now the cards are worth virtually nothing. This bitcoin thing seems like the same thing to me. It has value amongst the circle of geeks that give it value, but in reality it is nothing. It doesn't seem useful beyond the criminal world, so unless you're a criminal, why mess with it?

I was just going to post. I nearly pissed myself this morning. Glad I kept my PC running, I'm sitting close to 53btc's. On Mtgox that's around $5k, on eBay they're selling for $130+ making it $6500. Not a bad ROI from a $350 investment.
Yayaya, "if I can't see it, touch it, etc" it's not a smart investment. This is technology meeting economics at it's finest. Believe me, I have plenty of money invested in gold, but it hasn't brought me a 1,700% return.

interesting.
oh, wait.. you can't really do any of those things. Just like I can't plunk down a stock certificate and buy parts for my E30 at the auto parts store.

Give it some time...
You can order pizza from pizzaforcoins.com while you wait.
I started accepting Bitcoins, but its just a matter of integrating the system into the infrastructure. Maybe others will follow suit, its got to start somewhere. When you are used to paying a transfer fee of 3.1% per transaction, plus a your paypal ripoff currency exchange fee for int'l customers....bitcoins start looking attractive. Not for $15 parts, but for the larger transactions above $1000 or so.
It may not be profitable or convenient yet, but if it keeps this up, it will eventually get there. It makes sense. Lets just hope it doesn't fall through.
