    Who here bowls?

I'm looking for somewhere to buy a new ball from. I don't really know where to look online as I've always bought things at the pro-shop locally. Well they won't buy any expensive balls because they have to do orders in quantity. If they order 20 Stomps or something they'll be stuck with 19 cause I'm probably one of the only people that would buy one. Anyway... I'm using an Ebonite Enforcer but its seen better days. The lanes have chewed it up pretty well and its got some return burns on it. It has helped me go from a 110 average to 156 which is respectable I think. Now its time to put it over the edge. I need a high action ball with lots of late break. Anyone got any suggestions?

Go ahead and order the ball from the proshop, you will need to get it drilled anyway and they are always more happy to do the work when you buy the ball from them, plus if anything gets messed up you have them to work with to get it fixed. That is if they will make the order for you. I have a columbia 300 Super Trooper. It was a really nice ball this the fucking maching took a giant chunk out of it. I was really pissed and the lady that ran the alley wouldnt replace it. Stay with columbia, they are the best hands down. BTW 180 avg here. bowling is great fun.

Its a pro shop through the Army so they have to get everything approved. They said minimum order of ANY ball is 10 EACH. They won't order just one. I'm limited to that shop unless I want to drive hours to another one. And then I can't guarantee that I'll get anything good there. Its hit and miss. I'm not going to have it drilled here. The guy here SUCKS at drilling. He screwed up my spare ball and he fouled up the enforcer. I just want to get something new as this ball has too many chunks out of it. Still hooks up decent, but I'm dreading coming back stateside to decent lanes and watching this thing play hopscotch.

I've been bowling for as long as I can remember. But I learned wrong at an early age. I am right handed and learned to land on my right foot and swing the left. Until last year, this is how I bowled. I met a guy here who helped me change it all around. After a few months I had a decent straight ball (thats why I bought a plastic that I use as my spare) but wanted to start manipulating curves. So I got the enforcer. Took a long time to get used to. Lots of 120 games. Finally after a 12 week league I got the hand placement down and the wrist movement and can control the ball and get a good solid 8 board move out of it. But it dies after that. I've slowed down my roll a LOT lately and dropped from 33mph to 25mph to get more late "power" out of the ball. But I'd much rather have the same late hook and more speed to get that extra sweeper action going. With a low speed I feel I can't get enough umph to move pins adequately. Let me stop talking cause I'm sounding way too dorky about this subject. But yes... bowling is MAD fun.

Bowling is definitely great fun. I am pretty much self taught with some people I bowled with giving me some input. I average around 170-180 now consistently with a high game of 276. It is a simple game that anyone can do, it should not be the black sheep of activities.

              bowling > ice cream

Just got back from a few games actually. 212 high 147 low. Just can't get a good handle on the ball. And I wear out too easy. Keep trying to whip it down the lane instead of flowing with it. Before I realize it I've bowled 3 games like that and have to readjust and reaim.

I know more people on here have to have the same addiction.....

I havent been in a couple of years I used to bowl 8-12 times a week depending on the # of leagues I was in at the time. I carried a 197 - 213 ave depending on the house with a high game of 295. I quite because around here practice got really pricey $2-2.75 a game for open bowling and just got to busy to find the time to stay competive.

If you want something with a bit more snap and good finish in heavy oil or with alot of carry down I would say get a warp or inpulse zone (brunswick). I have a pro zone which pretty much the same as a the new inpulse, core is slightly diffrent but the cover stock and recativity are almost the same I get 12-14 boards and I dont throw alot of wrist and plenty of speed 29-30mph. A strike zone would not be a bad choice either just not as agressive as the other 2 I mentioned above. But most inportant of all find someone who knows WTF they are doing in the pro shop.

My son is a beginning bowler at 14. His school has a bowling team, it is a letter sport. The school has a deal with LaneMaster. We got him a Extreme Impact from the Current series. Heavily weighted towards a late break, with a very reactive cover.

He bowled absolutely straight with his old ball, a plastic 300 white dot. His new ball has about 20 boards of break, right at the end of the lane...beautiful hit.

He had never thrown a fingertip ball before, but I think the LaneMaster is excellent, and I may replace my aging Zone Pro with one.

I bowled a lot this past Summer. I'm one of those jack-asses you see who bowls with no thumb. I use a 16lb Brunswick Rhino. My high is 217, and average is about 160.

Thats what I'm looking for... I've been trying so hard to push the ball across the center mark from left to right to get a good hit on a late breaker but I have trouble with the push. It seems to die about 2-3 boards right of the middle arrow. Of course that leaves me hitting brooklyn and usually a 5 pin. If I stand right and throw a straight ball letting the ball do all the work, the thing takes off and sweeps the left flank leaving me stupid splits and odd spares. I'm no good at hugging the gutter so I HAVE to throw at least 2 arrows out. I dunno.... I'm still playing with all the new stuff I've learned..... I've done all this since May when I got back from all the Iraq integration and realized there's not much more to do other than drink here in Germany. So learning how to bowl has become a cheap past time. I'm lucky, my wife works there so I get to "hang out" with her while she works. And I'm in a league so I get 1.50 games.
