Momo aftermarket wheel horn issues

    whats up fellas.
I'm having some issues with my tractors horn.
i bought a e21 Momo steering wheel adapter a while back from a r3v member,
shortly after i purchased a 320mm Momo monte carlo from a guy on Craigslist, didn't come with a horn button.
just this last month i bought an off brand BMW horn button on amazon, i got it in the mail and it would not work even if grounded properly.
so i said eh its probably because its not a Momo button.
then recently a r3v member here (FLG) was kind enough to ship me a spare momo horn button and retainer ring for no cost, (really nice dude BTW, i owe him in some form) well the package came today and i was so stoked i started setting it up just as i got home.

horn button no worky, on any of the prongs.

so WTF is going on here?
the horn wire that comes through the center of the hub is working, i grounded it on many different things and the horn goes off.

any advice? should i try sliding the connections a little further? im not quite sure to do at this point.

please help a brotha out! thanks in advance.

When i bought my momo wheel from mike eldler (i think it was him?) YEARS ago, it came with a really cool MATTHEWS horn button and a grounding ring.

I installed it and no horn....wtf????? After i double checked everything, i ended up carefully taking the horn button apart and found the connection inside the button was broken. I ended up getting another one off of here and swapping the button onto the other ones guts.

If you can ground the horn wire to the steering shaft, then your problem is in the horn button or the grounding ring.

maybe i am incorrectly installing the ground ring on it? because both of these buttons were brand new, the one FLG sent me was still in the shrink wrap and flawless.

Buy a 5 dollar test light from an auto store, you really should have one before looking at other options. It's good to have around anyways, after getting one just check for continuity through the switch. Oh, and post a picture of how you have it setup

                Try this

If this fixes things and your not going to use the momo button, its cool...just pass it along.

                  ooooooooo looks nice.
looking at that photo i can tell i have installed the grounding ring wrong, im gonna go try it with the ring like that in the picture and if no worky then ill have to get that adapter wire.

Im fairly certain that ring has nothing to do with grounding, just used to keep the horn button in place.

2 spade connectors and a spare bit of just about any wire and youll be working.

Edit: And by ring i mean the little metal snap ring behind the horn, not the metal retaining ring.

Nice glad it worked out for ya. No need to man, go down to your local auto store, or hardware store.

Hardware store probably a better bet as they should have wire by the foot for sale, being you need so little thell probably just cut you a bit and send you on your way, might have to buy the box of spade connectors, which are good to have around regardless.

Yeah no need to waste extra time/money.

Its a very simple connection, your only completing a ground going to a part that uses very little amperage and even so for very short periods of time..not to mention even if something frayed or one of those wires came into contact with any metal the worst thing youll have is a horn going off.
