confused..... random m20 drivetrain quesiton seeking wisdom :P

    confused..... random m20 drivetrain quesiton seeking wisdom :P

    so i finally got all the garbage off my car to move it to street level where i will remove the oil pan and clean out my oil galleries and finish puting the whole car together,

    anyways, took me a while finally cleaned off all the crap my parents piled up on it and i put it in neutral, take off e brake, and then start to push the car and all the sudden the cylinders start cycling through there timing! can anyone tell me what is going on??

            hm....
            only way to move it without cylinders going through there timing pattern i found would be to have it in neutral with clutch pushed in.


            i have no idea why they are moving in neutral.

                Your transmission is not physically in neutral even if the shifter is. A gear is still engaged, likely a shift collar stuck or something. Your clutch is working properly.

                I had something strange like this happen to the transmission in my old car, it binded up and locked in gear--I think it locked in two gears actually which is why it binded--even though the shifter was in neutral. I got a rebuilt trans and sent the old one as a core back, the rebuilder couldn't tell me what was wrong with it (said he didn't find anything).
