I've found that the paper gaskets that come with water pumps are woefully insufficient. I ended up getting a foam gasket form a local parts place that has worked great. Nonetheless, dickless is still a dumbass for using RTV in an application where a normal gasket is available.

t-minus 1 hour.
came in for update.

head is torqued, waterpump is on, exhaust all buttoned up, on my way to getting everything else done but i dont have a deep well socket/spark plug tool for the plugs :(.


still need to do:
install new timing belt.
button up all pulleys and fan clutch.
mount radiator.
mount thermo.
button up all water hoses.
install throttle body and air box.
do all vacuum lines.
do spark wired/dizzy.
do all electrical plug ins.
new oil filter and oil.
water.
fuel lines.


plug in tractor battery and start it up.

Paper gasket is definitely fine just as long as mating surfaces are clean and you have the gasket aligned properly.

Btw I use rtv on water sealing places cause fuck that paper gasket the manufacturer crams in the box with a large metal object to crush it and crease it.
