Hey everyone
I'm the EMS Supervisor for my Fire Dept, and I'm taking on the task of updating our equipment to get us out the dark ages. Right now our technology consists of a Toughbook CF-19 with a Verizon PCMCIA card sticking out the side. Thats it. Next level isht.
I've applied for a grant to get some Cradlepoint MBR95 routers with a USB Verizon modems, to get the cards out of the Toughbooks and fix that achilles heel. I'm wondering how far I can take this though, and I'm out of ideas. Only other thing I'm thinking about is a Bluetooth GPS receiver to hook to the Toughbooks and use Google Maps or something, since we still use paper books to get around. Our CAD software (Motorola with OSSICAD) isn't Fire Dept friendly, so I don't think a MDT like the cops use is feasable at this time. Anyone have experience with a standalone Bluetooth GPS using Google/Bing/etc. maps? Any other ideas?
