Cold and Flu Season '12

Just got hit by a nice severe cold. What does R3V do to avoid/treat the seasonal sniffles?

i all ways get sick over Christmas i don't even try to stop it any more its happened the last 8 years

I bang out some airborne or emergen-c when I first feel sick. Supplement that with a nice dosage of the Q. Tends to make the cold shorter and to at least get a good nights sleep.

I drink a lot of water. Anything to flush my system. Also honey. Dad keeps bees, so the stuff is abundant.

Of course, right at the beginning of the season, I get hit with strep throat in the middle of the night.

Leaving me nothing to do but drink hot water & honey lemon, eat soup, & surf the forums today.

For the record, I've never had a flu shot.

Only ever had a mild cold. Last year I got strep, but that was in the Spring. Doctor loaded me up on amoxicillin, then I had an allergic reaction to that. FML.

Flu shot is one of those things I'm very skeptical of. Too lazy to investigate their success rate so I'll stick with the paranoia that it just makes you sick to begin with.

I get the flu shot now that I need it for my hospital credentialing. I usually got sick once a year and the last 2 years I've haven't gotten a cold. I think this is caused because I wash my hands, use hand sanitizer, and get the flu shot.

An FYI..flu shots do not 100% prevent the flu. It's a quick 5 minute thing and could help so why not.
