Nasally Administered Flu Vaccine......Tin-foil hats on...

So what does r3v say?? Better for us, or better for the Man??

I ask b/c my kids are supposed to go to the doctor tomorrow to get theirs. They are 6.5yrs old(twins) and have a history or lung problems(BPD for those who know what it is, or that can Google).

I also heard a somewhat disturbing broadcast on AFN here in Germany that ALL children under 3yrs old must get the flu vaccine, whether the parents want it or not. They seem to have quite a few places setup for convenience.

I don't believe in being too prepared or suspicious, but there is a reason, perhaps not to our benefit why it must be given nasally.

    Any input r3v??

i don't understand whats the problem with normal procedure of injected vaccines...
nasal vaccines just don't seem necessary and they don't seem as well assured.

i had one a few years back and it honestly felt like it all dripped out of my nose lol.

Nasal ones aren't as bad because the government still hasn't found a reliable way of getting microchips to stay in the spray and not drop out of the nasal cavity. They're now experimenting with something that looks like the head of a tapeworm and will attach itself and burrow into the users frontal lobe. Side effects are still under wraps.

Keeping the population informed, one individual at a time. ;)

Seriously though, I'd rather have it injected, not that I even get immunized. I hate taking things up my nose. Also what Pantless said.

Im curious why you would put your children at risk by injecting God knows what into them to avoid 2 days home sick on the couch playing video games. I see vacinating for things that can kill you, but the flu?

Disclaimer:I am very suspicious of a vaccine that changes annually and makes drug companies billions. Keep in mind, ground zero for H1N1 was just 50 miles from a Baxter plant in Mexico where someone contracted swine flu from asian pigs. No, I have never had the flu shot and never will. Havent had anything more than a cold in 5 years. Eat healthy, get excercise and pass on unneccessary vacinations.

I never take these flu shots and what not. Only because I think theyre dumb. They pack them with small amounts of multiple strands of influenza hoping one of them is the currently strand going around. Depending on your immune system it either doesn't do anything and you have it in you just circulating or you actually do get sick and spread whatever strand you know have.

I just take NyQuil and ride it through.

When they were in K-Garten, they had whooping cough/Pertussis at least 2x each. Unfortunately, the other kids at Kindergarten are/were sent in sick quite often. apparently their non-working mothers didn't want to miss their alone time in the AM.

I have gotten the flu shot MAYBE 2x in my life....and I was rarely ever sick. If I was, it wasn't during flu season, but rather in the springtime/early summer.

And it's not Mercury in there that scares me but a Mercury preservative that is reported to be in the vaccine, linked to autism among other things.

What's disturbing about that? That's how herd immunity works. In order for it to have a public health impact, you need all potential carriers to be vaccinated.

The reason is simply that it's more effective intranasally. Did you ever think about how you get the flu? It works better when it's in contact with your mucus membranes. Also, injections are painful and carry a (very tiny) risk of infection/contamination.

Because there is no significant risk of flu shot. And because the flu is a potentially lethal disease.

It looks like you're confusing the common cold (i.e., viral upper respiratory syndrome) with the flu (i.e., infection with influenza virus). You don't get over the flu in 2 days. Most people who get the flu are acutely ill for 7-14 days and it takes up to a month before they're back to 100%.

Don't forget, more people have died of influenza than any other viral disease, including HIV.

Newsflash: drug companies make more money treating sick people than preventing people from getting sick. Whatever conspiracy theories you may believe, the flu shot is designed to prevent illness. The young, elderly, and ill are the most susceptible to the flu. Not protecting your kids is irresponsible...not something to show off about.

The problem with idiots and tin foil hats, combined with bad science.

Autism was linked to vaccines in a fraudulent "study" and apparently news of this being debunked hasn't spread as fast as the misinformation and fear of vaccines, or the disease that could have been prevented by vaccines.

A new report finds that Andrew Wakefield, whose now discredited study first suggested a link between autism and vaccines, planned to leverage the findings for financial gain.

With a world full of gullible people who swallow whatever mass media publishes, they don't have the common sense to question Michele Bachmann claiming that HPV vaccine will cause mental retardation.

And then because idiots don't immunize their children, outbreaks occur:
The spreading of the anti-vaccine movement endangers more than just individuals. Read more on herd immunity and how fear of vaccines is harmful to everyone.

And now we learn that the U.S. is in the midst of the worst whooping cough epidemic in 70 years. One of the most hard-hit states is Washington, which the CDC just announced (on 20 July) has suffered 2,520 cases so far this year, a 1300% increase over last year. This is the highest number of cases reported in Washington since 1942. This plot of the number of cases this year compared to last year shows the dramatic rise in infections:
In conclusion, throw away the tinfoil and have your kids vaccinated.
