Yeah, I wasted a shittonamoney at a tech school.....still paying for it as a matter of fact. BUT like someone said, you get out what you put in. Some of the instructors at mine were rather knowledgeable and intelligent.

It's all about networking OP.
My friend finished UTI and works at Porsche/Audi/Bently in Newport, CA as an apprentice for now because of networking. Another at a BMW Race shop.
Treat the program as a medium.
You have to be active about what you want to do. Don't go sit in class and treat it like high school. Soak it in and network.

Just an update, ditching the entire UTI and WYOtech plan, just not worth the end result. Doing a ton(i mean a ton) of networking with my photography business.
Do me a favor and take a glance at my page

You're going to regret this. Oh boy will you regret this!!!
It'll feel like you're doing something for the better and making good progress but thats the trick they play on you with all the fancy equipment and cars they have there.
When I was in high school, all my car buddies (with mustangs and camaros and integras and shitty cars alike) kept saying I was retarded for buying a bmw as a project and building it to be faster and such. They kept calling it a four cylinder and FWD and stuff like that. I kicked the shit out of all the jap cars and even help up to a 305 trans am. They all swore up and down that I didn't know shit about cars. They all also decided to attend and graduate from uti. They all graduated and fast forward 7-8 years later they are all still working at either discount tire, pep boys, or napa. They al also have "student loans" that accumulate intrest much faster than their monthly payments.
My good frind who loved BMW's like I decided to go to our community college and get certified and he started with Mercedes and they shipped him to school somewhere in another country and he came back making 60k a year. Not bad if you ask me. He moved on to BMW and makes the same but ADMITS THAT WORKING ON CARS EVERYDAY IS TERRIBLE. He's now the shop manager and still hates it.
Go to your community or junior college and sign up. pay 1400 up front and get certified and learn just the same if not more than UTI.
Another side note, those guys that graduated ended up with 80,000 in loans. That was about 5 years ago. They now owe more. If i'm not mistaken UTI is owned by the same people that own Devry and other bullshit schools like it.
Think about it, what reputable school advertises itself and sends recruiters to your house? (unless your an athlete or something else credible to an actual university)
It's a business. not a school. Get out before they start drawing out loans for your next semester.... Then you're fucked.

I went to the NTI (they lost nascars endorsement for being dumbasses) outside of Charlotte, NC for 1 week. The more people i talked to the more i realize it wasn't the place for me. Especially for what you pay for it. I suggest looking into local colleges that offer technical degrees. That way you can major in automotive and minor in business or engineering or whatever the hell else you'd like. You walk away from that with a REAL diploma and a fall back of more education.
Oh the multimeter i got from there was pretty sweet and i use it all the time. Go for the multimeter.

Sorry OP but Pantless is right. Working in a shop first hand during the time I wanted to go to UTI the technicians DO and WILL laugh when you boast about going to UTI. Thank you Pantless for saving my future.

i went through this phase... i love cars but you really got to think about it in the long term like when your older, kids, what happens when your sick you don't get paid unless your on salary which is hard to get now, unless your a master tech working at bmw or mercedes. Life gets tiring and working on cars all day, going home all dirty, not the best paying job in the world, plus tools will be like a long term payment like a car payment... Dont get me wrong i LOVE wrenching and getting dirty but not really a viable option anymore. I am 20 years old, i thought about it really hard, but instead i went with IT and now i make 50k salary with 401k and health care, and still going to college.
what i am trying to say is think about the big picture and down the road.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
Trust me it stock
