I need to try it again now that I have experience with more intense 3D modeling programs

Its not too bad. If you are into modeling, just know that it is not a solids program, its all lines and planes.

I do a lot of little stuff as well as arch mockups with it as its quick and dirty.

I was under the impression I could design something, such as a wheel stand for my dfgt, and realized that's not what the program was made to do. It is a very neat program and the fact that it's free definitely boosts the rating for me!

it is very easy!! just play around with it and you will pick it up really fast. I used it a lot during school to just mock up quick ideas after I had them on paper

That part was a big mental leap for me, having "grown up" in SolidWorks (and Inventor, way back when).

Its definitely a simple software to use for people who have never used any lines and planes software. I found it a tad difficult, but thats cause i alread have experience with architectural and mechanical programs.

I would probably use it to draw a quick model to simply display an idea. But thats just me.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

and a nissan patrol I am modelling for a game called rigs of rods. It is lower quality as I need to keep the poly count down for the game.

Yeh if you want to pay 5k for a licenses, I have a free copy through my work. I still prefer blender, I am not talented enough that I can use 3DS to its full potentual. I use blender because it is not so complicated, 3DS has a terrible interface and I am always spend stupid amounts of time trying to find the fuction I want.

Though I do really like the nodes base materials editor in 3DS. Plus Blender is free you can't arguee that.
