I'm more comfortable in the Java/Android SDK environment right now. If there is enough interest in the system I would probably partner with an iOS dev to port the code.
The temp gauge and configuration is setup for any NTC thermistor, oil included. I would assume most oil temp sensors are as such so there should be no issues connecting one to the temp input. You would need to know three points of temperature/resistance to calibrate it correctly but that's usually provided by the manufacturer on the datasheet. Similar to how this IAT sensor has the three point curve provided. I know VDO and other major MFGs provide similar data.
Not currently, phone integration is a much bigger market right now and it makes sense to pursue it as it grows everyday. The next hardware receiver would be iPhone support before anything else.
