    Nalgene bottles

Are they microwave safe? Referring to the 32oz. gray Lexan bottles with the screw on lids.

I know I'd need to leave the lid off in the microwave...

Ive seen people do it. I try and stay away from hot liquids in them (anything with flavor) because they absorb smells.
    Im now E30less.

Plastic + microwave = bad. I always make certain I remove plastic wrapping or containers before cooking.

                    Stolen from cookingforengineers.com

Lexan is a food grade polycarbonate plastic that has gained a large following in the food service community. It is hard, durable, and resistant to reacting with oils resulting in a virtually stain and odor proof material. It is capable of handling a range of temperatures from below freezing to boiling. However, it is advisable to recycle and purchase new polycarbonate containers when they crack, chip or cloud up.

It's fine to microwave Nalgene bottles. I know someone who fills a 32oz one with water, tosses in a tea bag , throws the cap on and microwaves it for 3:00. Drinks it all day.

I know someone who put a Nalgene diagonally against a curb and ran it over with his range rover. Didn't do jack.

I have also seen a Nalgene that had been filled with water and put in the freezer with the cap on. It stretched a 2"x3" section of the plastic out about 1/4", but didn't hurt the bottle otherwise.

                      Those things are fucking TOUGH!

Ran over a Nalgene with an X5... Nalgene won. Although this was the 3.0 X5, so I'm sure a 4.8 would put up a better fight.
