Encase (Just In Case) is a new phone skin product that provides the protection of phone cases, while eliminating the annoying bulky feel and appearance.
The material offers high flexibility and elongation at break, but low elongation in use. In other words, it isn't fragile being stretched, important if being hit at a low-angle, so that it will slightly stretch and rebound, rather than breaking and tearing. But at the same time it isn't easy to stretch. Permanent restickable but non-residual glue ensures long-term placement, though leaving no residue if taken off, even after many months use. Heat-resistance keeps the material and glue from shrinking due to battery temperatures.
Most importantly, the surface is scratch and ding resistant. Whether you scrape this on a road, with your keys, or just in general every-day use, your phone will have no marks at all with this skin on.
The surface is reminiscent of the materials IBM Thinkpads used around the T60 era, which many of us deem first class thanks to their unprecedented durability.
I've been working on this project for almost a year testing various formulas, manufacturers and ways to do this and have finally come to have a product in my hands that I'm truly satisfied with.
What I need now is feedback. So before this goes any further, I would like to send out a couple dozen of these to r3vers, so I can get real feedback and possibly work on things that you'd improve.
I would be sending out skins for 2 phones per person, so you can give one to a friend or keep it for later and all I ask is for you to paypal/gift me $3 for postage.
There are two thicknesses, basic and "extreme", so one of each will be sent.
I currently have iPhone 3/GS, 4/S, iPod Touch 4th gen. iP5 coming soon.
I can also start taking requests on other phone models.
Let me know if you'd be interested in taking part ;)
