Either that or the company is doing so bad that they don't have work coming in and therefore are giving you extra vacation time so that they don't have to fire you just yet.

Being a person that has been laid off in the past perhaps you may use this false alarm as a sort of kick in the ass to make sure that you are doing everything possible to not be the person on the list in the future that does get a layoff notice.

Its kinda nice to get a wake up call if you decide to put it to good use. Or, just continue to work the way you have been and live in that "they would never fire ME" zone that most of us live in.

Between Friday and Today my current job is letting go 47 of the production guys......roughly 15-20% of total production guys.
