Computer Nerds, I need advice.

I'm fairly competent with computers myself, however my new laptop is running poor compared to the other laptop I just got a month ago.

Old Laptop specs:

i3 2330M Processor
4gb Ram
500gb Hard Drive
Intel GMA HD3000

New Laptop Specs:

i5 2450M
6gb ram
500gb hard drive
Intel GMA HD3000

Both are 2nd Gen intel.

New laptop is having trouble with frame rates during 1080p video, it also cannot play a lot of games I could on the i3, I updated all of my drivers.

Anyone know anything else it could be? I tried prioritizing certain programs too and it didn't help.

Shouldnt have any issues running it at 1080p(pass experience with toying with other laptops with i3s), although the i3 is the basic of the i series and the CPU isnt beefy enough to handle what you wanted it to do, its what you expect from a dual core CPU

Yes but i didnt have issues with simple games and 1080p with the i3, but the i5 pc is giving me trouble.

yes the i5 SHOULDNT have issues, there could be a process running in the background thats hogging up resources
have you performed ANY virus/malware scans?

no but i should, ill try the microsoft virus software provided with windows then maybe do a mccaffe or other scan later

i wouldnt bother with mcafee

get malwarebytes after scanning with microsoft security essentials and let me know what you find

Windows defender found nothing, i defragged, cleaned hard drive, updated every stinking driver for this pc, i even put it on a laptop cooler.

have you tried malwarebytes like i mentioned?

if not, download it and make sure its up to date then do a FULL scan

if it doesnt find anything, when did you purchased the laptop? im sure the CPU fan vents are clean of dust as well

Do a fresh install of Windows 7. I never buy a laptop and use it with the stock shipped image. They also blow cack.

Open up the resource monitor and download DPC latency checker. See if a program is hogging memory or Processor. run latency checker when your going to run 1080p video or open games. It can give a good idea what is wrong. also Y u no get dedicated GPU?

well that answers the problems there, it WAS a store model, a lot of people mess with it and do stupid shit to it, best thing is yes load up an OEM Win7 CD and youll be fine, just make sure you get the drivers for it first unless you enjoy staring at 800x600 resolution
