Small-Business Saturday

I have never involved myself in Black Friday in any conventional way and never plan to. In fact, I'm encouraging people to skip any Black Friday shopping plans they had this year and instead spend time with family and friends because it is worth more than any present (except an E30 M3). I think Occupy Black Friday would be pretty sweet as well.

Now, as well as not wasting money and spending time with loved ones instead, I'm also proposing Small-Business Saturday as a much better alternative to Black Friday. It's easy:

1. Don't participate in Black Friday and all its associated evilness.

2. Instead, go support local, national, or international small-businesses.

Support America.

Additionally, another fantastic alternative to Black Friday shopping is to collect all the things you don't want or don't need and to donate them to those who really need them. Whether you're giving old clothes to Goodwill or surprising a friend with that spare valence, it will make everyone much happier.

Unfortunately I don't think most people will think the way you do. You'll have a hard time convincing college kids not to spend $150 on a 42" LCD TV when its usually $700.

i should be buying some springs and bushings so ill be supporting american businesses, Ireland engineering and condor speed shop are going to end up getting some of my money

I'm in. I have never done the Black Friday thing, I hate large crowds of insane people acting without their brains engaged. I'd likely go to jail for a physical altercation.

I've never really done Black Friday either...but...I want Forza Horizon and it's only 15 bucks on Black Friday...

i don't buy useless things, so black friday is kinda moot for me.

that said, some e30 vendors will be surely be getting my money!

I dont do the black friday thing, and I try to support my local business long before I hit up the big boxes, sadly where I live the big boxes have moved in, in force and are making it hard on the little guys.

The part of the idea i don't like is what if this decreases the bonus/salary of the workers at the store we are supposed to abstain from shipping at. 18yr old Jimmy at best buy needs a sub for his Honda...

meh. I like black friday shopping.. Last year I spent $70 and got almost $500 worth of Pumas (5pairs). If I am going to already spend that money on a pair of new shoes in a year why not do it when I can save myself money and get more than I would have gotten for just 1 pair? I don't think Pumas are sold at a mom and pop store ;)

First of all, why the hell do you need five pairs of Pumas? Playing five different sports is the only acceptable answer I can imagine.
