You drive a 525i right? Save your money and get a nice exhaust. Again do it once. Save for a few more months if you have to and stop being a kid.

Well I wouldnt consider an american exhaust to sound tinny because the mufflers are entirely different. Remus is HEAVILY muffled and in my opinion not enough. My buddy's car has one...

Who gives a shit what other people think? Screw them, it's your car and it only matters what you think in the end. Just like your personal appearance.

Yep me too. It depends on what catback you get. If you get something like a Remus (which is what I have) it'd be about $700 dollars which is probably a lot more than you would be spending on a stereo system. But of course it also depends on what stereo system you get.

It would be more worth it to get a catback if you get something that is of quality sound like Remus and which is not tinny like the American made catback.

It would be more worth it to get a stereo system if you don't want to spend the extra money on the better sounding catback. If you are just buying the receiver, then you should get that instead of spending the same amount of money on a cheap sounding catback.

IF: Quality catback such as Remus, THEN: Catback > Stereo
IF: Cheap catback, such as American made Flowmaster, THEN: Stereo > Catback

Only cars to help pick up chicks are Ferrari and Lamborghinis, but those are just candy for the night, not keepers because they are more maintenance than the cars themselves. I know..I had one of those girls, 3 months of intensive work that I walked away from instead of flipping ;-)

    Let me clarify guys.

My exhaust sounds stock, it is slightly louder than OEM because of the muffler but it rattles at idle. The rattle is slightly annoying but cant be heard in the car.

You know how the OEM muffler the outer layer of steel likes to peel off thats what is going on.

I would say a custom catback with a nice muffler+tips is pretty nice, definitely not half assed.
