How should I make my car sound better?

It would be more worth it to get a catback if you get something that is of quality sound like Remus and which is not tinny like the American made catback.
It would be more worth it to get a stereo system if you don't want to spend the extra money on the better sounding catback. If you are just buying the receiver, then you should get that instead of spending the same amount of money on a cheap sounding catback.
IF: Quality catback such as Remus, THEN: Catback > Stereo
IF: Cheap catback, such as American made Flowmaster, THEN: Stereo > Catback

Who gives a shit what other people think? Screw them, it's your car and it only matters what you think in the end. Just like your personal appearance.

You drive a 525i right? Save your money and get a nice exhaust. Again do it once. Save for a few more months if you have to and stop being a kid.Comment

FWIW I haven't had a radio in my car at all since I got it running a year ago, and it hasn't bothered me in the least. IMO a bad exhaust is extremely annoying, not having a radio just allows you to focus on other stuff, like driving.Comment

Lmao you wanna hear a bad exhaust? Listen to my ix haha. Don't be a damned fool. Get a proper exhaust.sigpicComment

If your low on funds, and want both. Why not get a shop to install a Thrush chambered muffler? They sound good and don't drone as much as one would think. http://www.summitracing.com/search/b...d?autoview=SKU
And in the end, you could save up a little more cash and then do your stereo. Your car is stock and don't need a $700 exhaust on it.
As far as comparing a Remus against a Flowmaster. They are two completely different designed mufflers! It almost sounds like someone is just saying the Flowmaster is subpar cause its made in the USA...

Like I said, my best friend HAS a Remus on his 87 325i. I do not like it at all, I prefer a more raspy exhaust.
Spintech is a nice muffler for sure and the shop I am having install it does very good work. I dont know why people think it is going to sound bad...Comment

I don't know why you consider cutting out a resonator and welding in a new muffler a 'catback' Andrew..The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I picked Stereo and here is why:
Cars with loud exhaust that have no performance gain aren't as cool as having a car with a whoop ass stereo.
I've never been huge fan of cars that sound beastly but have no mods that actually make them perform any better. I can appreciate a great sounding exhaust but for $200 I don't see you getting something all that great. $200 on a good stereo and speakers will get you further.-ArtComment
