Not sure what I would do without my family bro!
I have two teenage daughters (14 and 15) who are talking about driving my E30, makes me shudder, however, love them like crazy and looking forward to teaching them the art of the manual tranny.

I don't have a problem with kids buying these cars: sometimes they fall in with a good crowd, make the cars a little better than the way they found them and learn something. An e30 can be a great introduction to automotive mechanics, how to drive better and generate some pride in ownership. Or maybe not: but at least they have a chance, an opportunity. And I'd rather see a messed up e30 on the street than another Honda Civic or Dodge Neon.

There's no rule that an e30 has to be a model of OEM perfection... as Chris Bangle says, cars are avatars. They're more than just clothes, they are an aspect of their owner's personality made larger than life. For some kids that means covering the dash in stickers, cutting springs and welding on straight pipes. Not my taste (or my method), but it's not my car. And anyways, they don't usually buy good cars: they buy neglected cars of which there are plenty to go around. If these kids really wanted their friends to say "wow" they'd buy an e36 m3.

I haven't said this to be confrontational, just offering a different opinion. I'm 38 with a wife and 3 yo daughter. Deep down I'm jealous of these kids. I spent my formative driving years with lousy cars: if I'd had an e30 in my life sooner I think I'd be a different person.
