U can see the moment he pulles the last bit of the bread out of his hand that his sweater is "unzipped" at the neckline/schoulder area. Also the "baguette" is very flimsy in the middle so i'm guessing it was folded in half under his clothes. That's why he quickly breaks it in half to cover that up.... I think.

I think you might be onto something. Right at the 5:00 mark you can see an opening in his jacket. The collar hides at once he turns.
