I was in the Marine Corps and it was time for me to get orders and move to another duty station.

They had an opening for my MOS and my rank in Stuttgary Germany and I tried and tried to get there. Didnt happen.

Moral of the story, the military is going to fuck you. Horrible idea to join.

your little bit of knowledge of the German language will not help at all.

the ring is fun!!! and you can ship your car here for free!
I wouldn't want to ship my car. Convertible + snow seems like a bad idea.

If you volunteer for Korea, or practically any sort tour, you'll get it. Short tour = base of preference on way out.

So, go to Korea, save money for a year, go to Germany and have fun.
Good to know. I'll have to try that method.

Leave it here in storage. Then ship over a touring when done ;)

Maybe several tourings and some good euro parts as well. ;)

Now that I'm in Vegas, I'm trying to get back to Germany but as a civilian.
Do they speak English on base or should I take a few German classes before joining?

Because Morine, I stay in 5 star hotels and live around the world. Love the ability to to travel. Hmm USAF aircrew lifestyle. Do I have a home life well that's subjective.

It's not for everyone, is it gonna get you stationed in Germany mostly likely NOT! Will you travel through like I do YES I get there twice to three times a month. Do I sleep at home in my bed yes. So I like Aircrew.

Take your asvab then talk with us. Other than that it's a waste of our time.

I've been studying for it with the online practice exam. I'll post up my scores when I take the official test.

I just took it yesterday. If you're not really good with algebra, do some studying. They don't allow much time to write out all the questions. Other than that it was basic knowledge stuff.

Enlisting, picking a job, finish training, then getting orders to Germany-will most likely never happen. You will be put where manning is needed in your specific AFSC.

i think i may have found your problem :P

OP: answer's going to be different for every branch, but with the Army- you can request with the "wish list" as previously mentioned. i saw a few people get what they asked for, but the odds aren't the kind i'd bet on; especially since losing could see you spend a few years at Ft Hood/Riley/Leonard Wood/pick-a-shithole.

Because Morine, I stay in 5 star hotels and live around the world.
he's not joking. soldiers/marines may give each other shit, but that is nothing compared to the level of hatred we harbor when there's a few company-sized elements sharing a tent the size of a soccer field and we hear about the AF guys getting their own hotel rooms...

be comfortable. go air force. but first, find a better reason to join.

I've been wanting to join the military for a while now. It'd be a stable job, I'd get to serve my country, fire cool guns that I wouldn't be able to in the fascist state of California, and I'd get to travel the world.

Army and Navy are my backup options but my #1 pick would be AirForce because well let's face it, the AirForce has the best pay out of the branches. And if I got stationed in Germany, I could build a car while I'm there and maybe even pick up a touring to ship back to the states.

whoever told you that is as wrong as two boys fucking.

pay grades are the same across DoD, by enlisted or officer rank.

what will vary is how easy it is to make rank within a certain branch, and within that, the MOS you chose (or landed in).

also be advised: being a servicemember does not get you around customs, and all the things that DOT/EPA make customs check for; though the rolling 25-year rule may have made e30s more accessible since i last looked into this.

But a vert with a leaky soft top during the winter months? No thanks. I'd want my car to be mechanically sound before I'd trust it in winter conditions.

of the four branches, the USN will be more flexible in getting you more preference of duty station, if you want specifics ask me. however, it still depends on your rate (job).

Your preference of Germany as far as the USN goes is low unless you get stationed at joint command.
